Eric Todd wins Sprint Car Feature at Lebanon I-44 Speedway

by Andrew McNaughton

(Lebanon) Nearly twenty Sprint Cars hit the high banks of the
Lebanon I-44 Speedway Saturday night, braving scattered showers that
threatened to rain out the night of racing.

Local favorite Eric Todd set the pace in the 20 lap Sprint Car
feature, holding off J.P. Compton who rode Todd's bumper most of the
night.

"It was awesome, I like being out here," Todd said following his
victory. "The cars really work when you get up to these speeds."

Jay Kendrick finished third, ahead of Clint Todd and Doug Rose.

The track was slicker than normal, thanks to a downpour several hours
prior to the races. That didn't stop Modified driver David Hendrix
from riding the high line around the Lebanon I-44 Speedway to victory.

"There's no place any more fun to run the top than right here,"
Hendrix said during a post-race interview. "I love it up there."

Hendrix held off Tony Jackson, Jr., and Justin Neuman in the 15-lap
Modified feature.

In other racing action Saturday night, Jim Reeves did all he could do
to hold off a hard charging Kris Jackson, but Jackson finally took
over the lead from Reeves as they raced through turns 1 and 2 on the
final lap of the 15 lap Factory Stock feature race.

"[Reeves] was wanting to hold me back there, but I just motored right
by", said the race winner, who has now won three in a row, including
two points races at the Lebanon I-44 Speedway.

Josh Woody held off Tyler Brown and Jim Hayes during the B-Modified feature.

"It's pretty fast with all this rain," Woody said of the track, which
was slicker than normal due to the rain earlier that afternoon.

The Bombers lived up to their reputation as the most competitive class
at the Lebanon I-44 Speedway, with Robert Reeves and Landin Johnson
swapping positions several times during in the race. Reeves took the
lead for good coming out of turn 2 when the two leading Bombers got
together.

"I apologize if I got into him down there, but the track is real
slippery tonight," Reeves said following the Bomber feature. "I was
just racing hard trying to get into the corner. It's just racing."

And, in the Rookie class, Michael Warnow won both the feature and heat
race, ahead of Josh Lewis and Rich Reynolds.

This Saturday night, the Lebanon I-44 Speedway hosts the annual
Lebanon Fireworks Night, and will also have a full program of racing,
featuring Late Models, Modifieds, Factory Stocks, B-Mods, Bombers and
Rookies. Gates open at 5PM, racing starts at 7:30PM, with fireworks
at intermission.
