Two Big Shows in Central, N.Y. this Weekend for the Stars and Cars of the Empire Super Sprints.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After five consecutive and successful Lucas Oil Canadian Invasion Series events for the Empire Super Sprints (ESS) and the tour brought to you by Jacobs Motorsports, its back to the Central, N.Y. this weekend for two big events. The half-milers of the Can-Am Motorsports Park and the Utica-Rome Speedway will kick off the week that celebrates our nation’s birthday.
Under the reins of Billy and Charlie Caprara, the fast oval in LaFargeville, N.Y. is enjoying one of its finest seasons for the promoting brother tandem. This Saturday night will mark the one and only appearance of the winged sprint cars and fans will get to see the very best ESS has to offer. Heading the list will defending champion and past winner at Can-Am in Alain Bergeron, former winners also to be on hand will be current ESS point leader Jeff VanDusen, two-time champ Lance Yonge, Justin Barger, Jessica Zemken, Dan Kaszubinski, Tim Kelly and Rick Wilson. Local favorite Jeff Cook will have two mounts on hand, one for himself and one for local modified pilot Scott Parliament.
Car Mate Custom Built Trailer heats will kick off the action followed by the Rt. 37 Building Supply/Walt’s Hobby Dash, the KSE Racing Products B-Main with the 25 lap A-Main as the finale of the evening.
The next night will see the winged warriors make their second of three trips to Gene Cole’s Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, N.Y. In the first visit, which kicked off the Jacobs Motorsports tour, Barger beat out former modified regular Jason Barney, VanDusen, Steve Poirier, who sits third in points, Jared Zimbardi and John Karklin Jr. All these stars along with Tommy Wickham, Mike Stelter, Bubby Kerrick, Michael Parent, Cory Sparks and many more will be on hand. Not only will there be fireworks in the air, but on the dirt as well as one of the closest early season point battles is under way.
The heat of Summer is rising and so is the mud slinging from the winged machines of the Empire Super Sprints where it has become tradition for 25 years of excitement guaranteed!!
