HARTFORD, Ohio; June 27, 2007 - The FANtastic Five Divisions - Warren Harley Davidson Sprints, Gibson-Governor Insurance Modifieds, Coy Brothers Trucking E-Mods, Tom's Sewer and Drain Service Pure Stocks and Limited Sprints - will take to the Sharon Speedway 3/8-mile dirt oval for the ninth time on Saturday night when racing commences at 6 p.m.
The last time the FANtastic Five wheeled around the Hartford dirt, Ed Lynch, Jr. (Sprints) and Joe Gabrielson (E-Mods) picked up a pair of commemorative victories. Lynch drove into Sharon Speedway's victory lane on Saturday, June 23 for his 200th career sprint car feature victory. The win marked his 47th triumph at Sharon Speedway and his third this season. In addition to Lynch's momentous victory, Gabrielson took the checkered flag for the first time in his two-year career after holding off Jeff Sharp in the 15-lap e-mod feature.
Five point leaders will be looking to extend their advantage in the current standings on Saturday night. Bob Felmlee, who has four victories this season, leads Lynch by 18 points in the sprint car standings. In the big block modifieds, Brian Swartzlander holds a six-point edge over Del Rougeux. The tightest battle is in the e-mod division, where Jeff Sharp leads Howard Fraley by one marker in the current standings. Gabrielson is three points back in third. With four victories in eight races, Dan Lewis has a commanding lead in the pure stocks. Former track champion Guy Griffin also holds a convincing edge in the limited sprints.
Saturday evening will be "Beach Night", with a variety of beach games and fun for the kids in attendance. Fans are encouraged to wear beach attire to the track on Saturday night as Sharon Speedway celebrates the beginning of summer. At intermission, the Gibson-Governor Insurance Modified drivers will be signing autographs for all fans in attendance.
