Daggett Crowned ASCS Sprints on Dirt "King of Michigan" at Hartford.
T.J. Buffenberger, HARTFORD, Mich., (June 29, 2007) Dustin Daggett
continued his domination of Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor
Reinz competition on Friday night by winning the annual King of Michigan SOD
Summer Nationals at Hartford Speedway Park.
Daggett won his heat race, drew the pole position, and led every lap in
route to his fourth King of Michigan crown in the Mott Motorsports owned car.
The car was really hooked up on a rail tonight, said Daggett after the
feature. I need to thank Phil Mott and his family for putting together such a
wonderful team for us.
Daggett and Kyle Patrick started on the front row for the 30-lap feature
event. Daggett pulled into the lead coming out of turn two while Patrick raced
with Gary Fast for the second position. Fast kept pace with Daggett while
everyone behind him diced for position. The red flag appeared early on when
Nate Bostrum flipped in turns three and four. Bostrum exited the car under his
own power.
Daggett pulled away during the restart while Fast started feeling pressure
from several different drivers for the second position. Fast did get one
opportunity to close the gap when Daggett was boxed in behind a lapped car.
Eventuallly Tim Norman moved up to the second position from 10th starting spot,
but Daggett had already amassed a sizeable lead.
Even a late race caution for a spin by Jake Stebner saw three lapped cars
between Daggett and Norman. The lapped cars sputtered when Daggett took off
and by the checkered flag Daggett had built up nearly a half track margin over
Norman, Tim Allison, Fast, and Brett Mann.
Daggett, Mann, and Ryan Ruhl won heat race events.
