Felmlee and Lewis Win for Fifth Time in 2007 on Ninth Night of Racing at Sharon Speedway

HARTFORD, Ohio; June 30, 2007 - With the ninth night of Sharon Speedway racing in the books, Bob Felmlee (Sprints), Rob Kristyak (Modified), Alan Dellinger (E-Mod), Dan Lewis (Stock) and Eric Williams (Limited Sprint) drove to victory lane in the FANtastic Five features on Saturday night.

The first feature of the night sent the Warren Harley-Davidson Sprint cars onto the Hartford dirt. Bob Felmlee snagged the trophy in the 25-lap feature. Jarod Larson and Kyle Moffit paced the field to the green flag. Larson jumped out to the early lead and completed two laps before the field was halted by a Sammy Strawser spin on the backstretch. Kevin Schaeffer and Felmlee were the drivers on the move in the first two laps. Schaeffer started sixth and slotted into second, with Felmlee moving from eighth to fourth in a pair of laps. On the restart, Felmlee continued his charge with a powerful move around Moffit for third spot on the third lap. Meanwhile, Larson controlled the pace in the early going, as he built a 1.5 second lead over Schaeffer with six laps on the board. Felmlee continued his trek to the sharp end on the eighth lap as he powered around Schaeffer to take second spot out of Turn Four. Jody Keegan, who started 10th, followed Felmlee around Schaeffer to take third spot. On a lap 10 restart, Keegan used a Felmlee slipup into Turn One to take second. Keegan maintained his frenetic pace as he caught the bumper of Larson. On the hard, slick track Keegan had his machine working on the bottom of the oval, while Larson was maneuvering his sprint on the cushion. Keegan showed his nose under Larson on lap No. 12 and then again on the 15th circuit. After setting him up for a series of laps, Keegan made his move stick on the low side of Turn Two to take the lead down the backstretch on lap 16. Just as the cars set up for Turn Three, on the same lap, Larson tagged the outside wall and flipped. He was not injured in the accident. With 16 laps on the board, Keegan led Felmlee, Schaeffer, Mike Kekich and Moffit. After building nearly a straightaway lead, and lapping nearly .6 of a second quicker than Felmlee, Keegan caught lapped traffic and clipped the Turn One wall. He slowed down the backstretch allowing Felmlee to take the lead on lap 19. Keegan's misfortune moved Schaeffer and Kekich to second and third, respectively. On the restart after Keegan's incident, Schaeffer tried to make a move on Felmlee for the lead, but Felmlee held off the charge. Despite the charge, Felmlee maintained his edge to lead the final five laps to take his fifth feature win of the season. Schaeffer crossed the line second, with Kekich third. David Doherty was fourth and Daryl Stimeling rounded out the top five. Keegan and Schaeffer took the heat races.

Eric Williams won his first career sprint car feature in the Limited Sprint division's 15-lap race. Nick Miller and Brandon Spithaler were the front row starters for the feature. Miller took the early lead ahead of Jim Morris, who started third. Williams found his way around Morris and set sail after Miller. Williams did not stop in second as he darted beneath Miller to take the lead on the seventh lap when the cars entered the third turn. A strong run by Miller ended in Turn Four on lap No. 9 as he spun and collected point leader Guy Griffin. Williams held a .5 second lead ahead of Spithaler on the 12th lap, but Spithaler closed the gap. Despite pressure from Spithaler, Williams cruised to his first career win in the Limited Sprint division. Spithaler crossed the line in second, with Griffin third, Morris fourth and Kyle Layton fifth. Griffin won the only heat race.

Rob Kristyak led 22 laps, and was the man to beat in the Gibson-Governor Insurance Modified 25-lap feature. Rex King and Del Rougeux occupied the top two slots at the start of the race. Before the cars completed a lap, Rougeux and King raced side-by-side down the backstretch, but when the cars entered Turn Three, Rougeux went into the wall. He recovered, but was sent to the back. Because a full lap was not completed, the field undertook a complete restart. On the restart, King powered his way to the top spot, with Kristyak slotting into second. Kristyak had his big block wound up on the cushion. He used that momentum on the third circuit to snag the lead away from King out of Turn Four on the third lap. With five laps on the board, Kristyak and King pulled out to a one straightaway edge over third place runner Andy Priest. Rex King Jr. found his way to third after starting sixth. At the front of the field, Kristyak held a 10 car length lead over Rex King as the cars worked the ninth lap, but King was not done. He shaved down the lead down to just under five car lengths with 11 laps on the board. At the midway point, Kristyak led Rex King, Rex King Jr. and Andy Priest. Rex King closed to within a pair of car lengths of Kristyak, but his run was thwarted when he tagged the rear end of the lapped machine of Bob Dorman. The contact sent King into the Turn Three wall, ending his night. On the restart, Kristyak led Rex King Jr. and Jim Rasey, who ultimately found his way around King Jr., just before King Jr. slapped the Turn Four wall on lap 21, halting a strong run. Although Rasey gave Kristyak a strong run in the closing laps, Kristyak stayed on the cushion all night long to take his first victory of the season. Rasey wound up second. Russell King drove a strong race to finish third, with Priest fourth and Rougeux recovering to finish fifth. Rougeux and Brian Swartzlander won the heat races.

The Tom's Sewer and Drain Service Pure Stock 15-lap feature sent Dan Lewis to victory lane for the fifth time in 2007. Tim Burns and Tim Deutsch made up the front row. Burns scored the early edge over Deutsch. Steve D'Apolito and a pair of cars spun in Turn Three on the second lap to bring out the first yellow flag. With two circuits in the books, Burns led Deutsch and Allan Hudzik. Behind Burns, all eyes were on point leader Lewis. Lewis started seventh and moved to fourth on the third lap. On lap four, Lewis powered around the outside to take third spot entering Turn Three. He did not stop there as he maneuvered under Deutsch for second spot on the sixth lap. Meanwhile, Burns spun out of the lead in Turn Three as the cars lapped the speedway for the seventh time. Burns' misfortune sent Lewis to the top spot. The field was halted on lap No. 7 when Jamie Duncan flipped on the backstretch. Duncan emerged from the car uninjured. With the race at the midway point, Lewis led Deutsch, Stan Woomer and Hudzik. Lewis pulled away from the battle between Deutsch and Woomer to take a 10 car length edge before the field completed 10 laps. The remaining five laps were much of the same. Lewis had his stock handling on the bottom of the slick oval. Lewis drove 15 smooth laps to take his fifth victory of the season. Deutsch and Woomer crossed the line in second and third, respectively. Brian Carothers finished fourth, with Ed Cornell rounding out the top five. Lewis, Cornell and D'Apolito were the heat race winners.

In the Coy Brothers Trucking E-Mod feature, Alan Dellinger scored his fourth win of the season. Dellinger and Steve Haefke led the field to the green. Dellinger pulled out to the early lead, but five cars tangled in Turn Four with one lap on the board. Dellinger had the car to beat in the preliminary stages of the 15-lap feature. When the yellow flag flew for a Turn Two incident between Joe Gabrielson and Dwayne Clay, Dellinger led Haefke and Scott Jones. While working the eighth lap, Haefke looped his e-mod in Turn Two, relinquishing second spot to Jones. All this took place behind Dellinger, who looked as though he was on rails all evening long. He cruised away from the field each time a restart occurred. Dellinger crossed the finish line as the winner for the fourth time in 2007 after leading all 15 laps. Jones crossed the line in second, with Bob Diver third, Howard Fraley fourth and Jeff Sharp fifth. In the heat races, Sharp and Dellinger were the winners.
