West Lebanon, NY: Lebanon Valley Speedway along with Berkshire Bank
presented a full night of action that included all the divisions on the

speedway, as well as a gigantic fireworks display that filled the sky.

By the time the racing got under way, a huge crowd had taken over the
Valley
of Speed for a night of hot action on the track, and of course, the
annual
pre-4th of July celebration of fireworks. The Big Block Mods took to
the
speedway for their Berkshire Bank 30 lap feature event. On the front
row,
it was the King Fish, Mike King, and John Alberti that brought the
field to
the green flag.

Mike King had control of the top spot, until the #27 of Dave McFeeters
took
over on lap 5. The caution flew on lap 9 when contact was made between
the
#60 of Brian Berger, and the #7 of John Ruchel. While the field passed
the
damaged cars, the #27 veered to miss the exiting driver of the #7,
causing
the #27 to make contact with the parked #60 of Berger.

That gave the King Fish the top spot back. He once again took the
green on
the restart, and began to pull away. Back in the pack, J.R. Heffner,
Kenny
Tremont, and Andy Bachetti were charging through the field to get to
the
front. But it would be to no avail, as the #42 of Hollywood Guy
Sheldon,
pounced on lap 18 after another caution for the #24 of John Hewitt
slowed on
the backstretch.

Sheldon powered his Saxton Signs, and Judd Construction #42 from the
third
spot to the front in a matter of two laps, as if someone hit the
afterburners. Once Sheldon took over the point, there was nothing any
could
do to catch him. Even a late race caution brought the #74 of J.R.
Heffner
right to his rear bumper, but on the restart, Heffner broke the #74,
and
another caution flew. But it didn’t matter who was behind the Devine
Family
#42, as Sheldon takes his 2nd 2007.

Following Sheldon over the line was the #77F of Mark Flach, Jr., 3rd
was the
#115 of Kenny Tremont, 4th was the “King Fish” Mike King, and 5th
was the
#21J of Jeff Trombley.

The 20 lap Sportsman feature showed how persistence pays off. Jeff
Kelly’s
#44 brought the field to the green. But it didn’t take long for the
#9H of
Ed Harkins to take over the top spot by lap #3. Through the field, the
#22
of defending Champ Jeff Watson, Neil Stratton’s #87, and the #63 of
Danny
Sanchez, were slicing through the field to get to the front. But it
was all
for naught, as the #9H was in the catbird seat, and there was no
looking
back.

At the line, the Harkins Mechanical and Paul’s Lawn and Garden #9H of
Ed
Harkins took his first win of 2007. Following Harkins was the #80 of
Kory
Sandstedt, 3rd was the #16 of Kyle Hoffman, followed by the #22 of Jeff

Watson and the #83 of Chad Pierce was awarded 5th after the #68 of Art
Collins was penalized 6 positions for “Rough Driving”.

Chris Crews held off the advances of several contenders to get his
first win
of 2007 in the Pro Stock division 20 lap feature event. The Rice
Builders,
Capital Midway #5 powered out front on lap 5, and never looked back.

Crews took the checkers, followed by the #324 of Jason Casey. Mike
Middleton powered to the 3rd place finish, while the #76 of Kevin
Arnold
followed for 4th, and the Paul LaRochelle came back through the field
after
an early race incident to finish 5th in his #78.

Nick Hilt converted his last place starting position to a win in just 3

short laps, taking his 6th of 2007, in the Limited Pro Stock 10 lap
feature.

The Pure Stocks were over 45 strong again this week at the Valley of
Speed
and were divided into 3 feature events. The winners this week were:
PS#1 –
Dave Stickles, PS#2 – Mike Eichstedt, and PS#3 – Tom Harkins.

Next Saturday July 7th, it’s a special $3,000.00 to win Big Block
Modified
feature. Freihofer Baking Co. along with Curtis Hill Modular Homes
present
the Royal’s Garage and Sheffield Building Supply $3,000 to win
Modified
Feature, along with the return of the 4 Cylinders.
