URC POINTS SHUFFLE, CURT MICHAEL NOW ON TOP
This may very well be, the longest wait in the past four years, for
defending URC Champion Curt Michael, to work his way to the top of the
Bar's Leaks Sprint Series point chase. But he's there now. Hot off a
strong and solid third place finish Saturday night at the Delaware
International Speedway, four time URC Champion Curt Michael of Ocean
View, DE is now on top of the season long point battle. Michael is the
only URC repeat feature winner this season, collecting a pair of checker
flags at the Delaware International Speedway on April 21st and June
2nd. It's been a competitive season with ten different winners in
eleven events and add to that, six are first time URC feature winners.
All this may add to why, it's been so difficult for Curt Michael and
his BK Leasing/Palladino sprint car to climb to the top of the point
chase.
With a third of the season now in the books, the most challenging part
of the 2007 URC Bar's Leaks Tour is about to unfold. If history repeats
itself, Curt Michael and the Palladino Team usually shine when the
temperature is hot, the days are long and the competition is tough.
Michael is looking for his fourth consecutive URC Championship and his
fifth overall title.
Just off the pace in the chase is Brian Seidel, just twenty-six point
behind Michael. Making up the top five are Ed Aikin, the master Kramer
Williamson is fourth with Michael Carber in the Guy Howie URC sprinter
now in fifth. Justin Collett, Mark Bitner, Chris Coyle, 2006 URC Rookie
of the Year Davey Sammons and Jason Clauss make-up the top ten.
The URC Sprints will be in action this Friday night, July 6th at the
Bridgeport Speedway followed by a visit to the New Egypt Speedway on
Saturday night, July 14. URC will next stop at the Big Diamond Raceway
on Friday night, July 20 and the Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday night,
July 21.
