CLEARFIELD, PA – With two races completed and the street stocks lined up for the 50 lap test, the nights racing action came to a grinding halt Sunday at Gamblers Raceway Park.
The Hyde Vol. Fire Co. had advised track manager Richard A. Delisle that unless they were paid for the evenings work, they were leaving.
The evening’s activities saw Mr. Delisle ram the Hyde fire truck four times before he fled the track surface and was eventually stopped in his tracks when a member of the Hyde fire police rammed the Delisle vehicle nearly head-on.
Police from Lawrence Township, Clearfield Borough, Curwensville Borough and the Clearfield State Police, Clearfield Emergency Medical Services, Lawrence Township Fire Co. Station 5 and DuSan/AmServe Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
Five firefighters were transported to Clearfield Hospital for injuries.
At this time the future of Gamblers Raceway Park is unknown, however a new owner is close to finalizing the deal to own the facility.
