On Saturday, July 7th at Fonda Speedway, the pro stock division will be racing for some extra cash in memory of a great friend and comrade, Hondo Carpenter.
Hondo Carpenter, a fan favorite who drove the #9 Bobco Racing Video pro stock was fatally injured in an ATV accident on July 4, 2005 and his circle of friends have dedicated this feature to him for the second year. Last year Jim Burton took home the winner's share of the bonus money and a four foot tall trophy. Second was Nick Stone and third was Ken Gates.
This year even more money is on the line. The winner will receive $199 from Speedzone Motorsports Radio, $109 from J & J Racing (Jim and Joy King) , $9 and commemorative vinyl from DH Graphx, a pit pass for the next week from RaceProWeekly.com, and a commemorative duffle bag from Roger & Cindy Steele filled with valuable prizes such as an 8x10 of the victory lane celebration from Images by DC and a dvd of the event from Bobco Racing Video.
Second place pays $99, third pays $89 and so on. This year there is also prize money for the heat races. Heat winners will receive $50 from Elmo's Auto Body. Runners up in each heat will receive $25 from Rocket Time Web Sites.
New this year are lap sponsorships. Mark Krosky has donated $9 for the leader of each lap. Lap 9 is worth an extra $100 from the Wilder Racing Team and $93 from Darla Davanau Signs. The lap 10 leader will receive $100 from School House Pools. There are additional cash awards on each of the other odd numbered laps plus a gift certificate to the Winner's Circle Restaurant to the leader of lap 18. The driver leading the most laps will win an additional $99 from Mark Krosky.
