KENT CONSTRUCTION NIGHT URC FEATURE FALLS TO TREVOR LEWIS IN FRIDAY
NIGHT RUN AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
Trevor Lewis of Upper Black Eddy, PA added his name to the list of URC
feature winners in 2007, becoming the eleventh different winner in
twelve feature events this seasons. Lewis was the winner of the
twenty-five lap URC Bar's Leaks Sprint Series feature event in an
experimental Friday night show at the Bridgeport, Speedway. Track
owner and Promoter Jay James was pleased with the turnout and viewed
the
Friday night URC show as a success.
A field of thirty-one URC sprint cars took part in the Kent
Construction event with heat race victories going to Tim Hogue, Mares
Stellfox and Jason Clauss as Mark Bitner won the Don Ott "B" Main.
In the twenty-five lap Fred's Trailer Parts New Series feature event,
Jason Clauss was the early race leader with Mares Stellfox following in
second. URC rookie driver Andrew Hannula moved into second on lap
three
as Ed Aikin followed in third. Also on a charge was Trevor Lewis who
moved into the fourth spot on lap seven.
The event was going at a non-stop pace until lap eleven when J.J.
Grasso
lost a left rear will and flipped in turn four. Grasso walked away
uninjured but unable to restart the event. Green flag racing resumed
and on the restart, Andrew Hannula took the lead with Trevor Lewis
following in second. At the halfway point of the feature, Hannula set
the pace followed by Lewis, Curt Michael, Jason Clauss and Chris Coyle.
On lap fourteen the red flag was displayed this time for Justin Collett
who took a wild flip in turn one. Collett was taken to the hospital
for
a check-up and no further updates were available at this time.
Back to green flag racing and Hannula continued to set the pace until
lap sixteen when Trevor Lewis powered into the top spot. Just two
laps later, Curt Michael moved
into the chase and took over the runner-up spot on lap eighteen. In
the closing laps, Michael tried to reel in Lewis but ran short of time
to offer a serious challenge for the win. Trevor Lewis took the
checker
flag over Curt Michael, Andrew Hannula, Chris Coyle and Ed Aikin.
