MECHANICSBURG, PA -- On Friday the 13th, the sprint car racers at
Williams Grove Speedway will have one final opportunity to dial-in
their
cars for the three-day Cleveland Brothers Summer Nationals, coming up
July 19-21.
The limited (358 c.i.) sprints will join the sprint cars on the
13th with the first heat scheduled to start at 8:00.
The Williams Grove regulars, known as the Pennsylvania Posse, will
be looking to get back on track during the Summer Nationals, which will
be sanctioned by the World of Outlaws.
Donny Schatz, the defending WoO champion and current points
leader,
swept the Posse in May with two convincing victories, which allowed the
Fargo, ND, resident to leave the Grove with $20,000 credited to his
account.
Schatz can match his May total on July 21, since the winner of the
30-lap Summer Nationals finale will collect $20,000.
Based on the results of the World of Outlaws weekend in May, the
Posse has some catching up to do. Only two Grove regulars were able to
record a top-five finish throughout the two nights of racing.
Greg Hodnett finished a strong third behind Schatz and Joey
Saldana
the first night and on the second night Todd Shaffer finished fifth
behind Schatz, Steve Kinser, Danny Lasoski and Paul McMahan.
Shaffer has been the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass points leader through
much of the season and he should be a contender during the Summer
Nationals.
Hodnett is a former Summer Nationals champion having won the 2002
edition.
Reserved seats for all three nights are still available. Credit
card order are accepted at 717.697.5000.
In other news from Williams Grove Speedway, the date for the
second
Kids Night has been changed from August 10 to July 27.
