(Lima, OH) The 6th Annual Bobby Keysor Memorial paid $2000.00 to win
for one lucky Bud Thunderstock driver and nobody deserved the money
more than Earnie Woodard. Each week, Woodard makes the trek from his
northern Kentucky home to race at America's Premier Quarter-Mile dirt track,
Limaland Motorsports Park. That's an amazing commitment considering
the cost of gas!
The evening's race card began with heat race wins by: Mike Miller, Luke
Hall, Darren Long, Jeff Babcock, Earnie Woodard, Kevin Gossard, Terry
Hull, Frankie Luchini, and Andy Holderman. The three weekly divisions
had excellent cars counts with the Bud Thunderstocks and Professional
Computer Company Modifieds tallying (31) entrants each and the Elwer
Fence Sprints had (28) winged warriors.
The Bobby Keysor Memorial was led early by Tony Siferd. After a
spirited battle, Brad Conover moved to the point. An attempted pass by Siferd
resulted in a spin and his chances of winning came to an end. With
Conover leading, Earnie Woodard was left to find a weakness to capitalize
upon. Ultimately, the weakness was not in the driver, it was Conover's
motor that couldn't take the pressure and it expired with three laps to
go handing Woodard the biggest payday of his career.
The Elwer Fence Sprints teams have been chasing the weekly consistency
of point-leader Mike Dussel. When the green flag waved, Dussel
immediately moved to the front with Jeff Williams and Jim Dues in tow. Dussel
looked to have a lock on his first victory of the year until a new name
emerged from 4th place. Luke Hall took it to the top and rim-rode his
way to the lead with eight laps to go. Once he was in the lead, Hall was
untouchable and claimed his first victory at Limaland Motorsports
Park.
For the third week in a row, the Professional Computer Company
Modifieds took to the track last, but the competition was first-rate. Todd
Sherman was fast in the early going, but this year's standout, Darryl
Banks, slowly picked his way to Sherman's bumper from his 6th starting spot.
By mid-race, Banks had assumed the lead and waved goodbye to the rest
of his challengers. While Banks was building a straightaway lead, Tony
Anderson clawed his way past Sherman for second place. Banks collected
his third official win of the season and continued to show he is the
class of the division.
Your next chance to be part of the celebration of 72 years of racing
action is next week when Limaland Motorsports Park hosts the 19th Annual
Brad Doty Classic on Wednesday, July 11th. The World of Outlaws return
to Limaland, along with Kasey Kahne, to do battle on the famed
high-banks. This is THE SHOW of the year and tickets are still available. Pit
gates open at 2 p.m. Spectator gates will open at 4 p.m. and a special
autograph session will begin behind the main grandstand at 4:30 p.m.
Camping is allowed for the event. For complete information, including
ticket prices, go to www.limaland.com .
