ASCS Patriot Mid-Season Champion at Brockville Most Lucrative Purse Ever $2000-to-win, $300-to-start up for grabs this Saturday.
Rich Vleck, TULSA, Okla. (July 10, 2007)- The second trip of the year to the Brockville Ontario Speedway is the 11th event on the 2007 ASCS Patriot Schedule, bringing the season to the halfway point, a perfect time to run the Mid-Season Championship.
The winner of Saturday Night’s 25-lap feature event will claim a $2,000 top prize posted by Riverside Bar and Grill in Gananoque, Ontario; only the third time that much has been up for grabs in the five year history of ASCS Patriot events. For the rest of the sprint car hot shoes in attendance, they will receive at least $300 for tackling “The BOS”.
$300-to-start will be great for any of the competitors, but they will all be gunning for the top prize of $2,000 that last month was taken home by a competitor that made ASCS history.
Jessica Zemken of Sprakers, NY became the first woman in the 15-years of the American Sprint Car Series to win an A-Feature event. The win has gained the 21-year-old much notoriety around North America, something other drivers can also achieve on the high-banked ¼-mile by taking the Mid-Season Championship.
Local “Favourite” Rick Wilson did not even make a lap in his National Parts Peddler Heat race back in June, something that left the fans, as well as “The Joyceville Jet” wanting more this time around. Wilson has won two Patriot events at Brockville, including on this mid-July weekend last year.
Jared Zimbardi and Ray Preston both scored top-five runs on June 2 and will once again be contenders in the fifth event in ASCS Patriot history at Brockville. Rookie’s Scott Kreutter and Daniel Lampron were also strong in June and have what it takes to win their first career events in their first competitive season.
This race will be the anniversary of total heartbreak for Don Adamczyk, who was within three laps of capturing his first career ASCS Patriot feature. The “Williamsville Warrior” struggled back in June after flipping the night before but hopes to bounce back and receive total redemption.
Fresh off his first win in over three years on Friday at Ohsweken, Bobby Breen will try to win his second straight North of the Border at a track that he, as well as his brother Blake, have struggled at over the years.
Chuck Hebing leads the Championship standings by just 30 points entering Brockville, a track he has never run well at. Despite scoring a second last year in Eastern Ontario, “Cobra” struggled to an eighth place run last month.
Once again, this is the third of four races this year that are $2,000-to-win, with added support from Riverside Bar and Grill in Gananoque, which will be hosting a VIP after-race party for the racers before they head home.
