FANtastic Five Set for 11th Racing Night of Season on Saturday at Sharon Speedway
Admission $11 for adults, $5 for kids, under 11 are free
HARTFORD, Ohio; July 11, 2007 - With midseason championships in the rearview mirror, the FANtastic Five divisions will begin their push towards the title fight on Saturday when action commences at 6 p.m. on the 3/8-mile oval at Sharon Speedway.
One week after Jody Keegan (Sprints) and Brandon Spithaler (Limited Sprints) visited victory lane for the first time this season, drivers from all five divisions will be looking to do the same when they hit the oval on Saturday for the 11th time this year. Bob Felmlee still holds a convincing point lead in the Warren Harley-Davidson Sprint Cars. Del Rougeux padded his margin in the Gibson-Governor Insurance Modifieds with his third victory of the season. Howard Fraley leads Jeff Sharp by seven markers in the Coy Bros. Trucking E-Mods.
In the Tom's Sewer and Drain Service Pure Stocks, Dan Lewis holds a hefty 127-point edge over Steve D'Apolito. Meanwhile, Guy Griffin maintains his points lead in the Limited Sprints.
In addition to the racecars circulating the oval at Sharon Speedway on Saturday, kids will have an opportunity to race their own bicycles during intermission. Kids (3-12) will race on the speedway's dirt with prizes for everyone who participates. Those interested in participating must supply a bike. Saturday is Scout Night and Twin State Auto Racing Club Night as well.
Tickets for Saturday evening's show will be available at a price of $11 for adults (16 and older), $5 for kids (12-15) and free for children 11 and younger. Pit passes are $22, and the pit gate opens at 3 p.m.
Saturday will also be a "Two for $2" night. Fans who bring two non-perishable food items for Second Harvest Food Bank this Saturday will receive $2 off the price of an adult general admission ticket. A representative will collect the food outside the gate from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. only. Everyone who donates two food items will receive a $2 coupon to present at the ticket window, bringing the price of an adult general admission ticket to just $9. All non-perishable food items are accepted, but canned meats, canned vegetables, tuna and peanut butter are needed most.
Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Fans can call (330) 772-5481 or visit www.sharonspeedway.com for more information and directions.
Just around the corner for Sharon Speedway will be the World of Outlaws Late Model Series on July 28. Also, just announced is the "NASCAR Duel on the Sharon Speedway Dirt" featuring a $5,000 to win open sprint car feature and a $1,000 to win e-mod feature. The e-mod race will include NASCAR stars Dave Blaney, Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer and potentially more NASCAR drivers to be confirmed at a later date.
