The Empire Super Sprint Weekend: The Tale of Two Provinces and One State.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – In what has become a tradition and also one of the most looked forward to weekends of the Empire Super Sprints (ESS) and the tour brought to you by Jacobs Motorsports will start this coming Friday in Quebec, back to New York on Saturday and across the river to Ontario on Sunday. Look out Edelweiss, Frogtown and Cornwall, the stars and cars of ESS are coming to your house!

Friday night, July 13th, Autodrome Edelweiss Speedway, $2,000 to win, $375 to take the green:

Under the promotion of Serge Lagace’, this neat 1/3rd mile oval located just North of Canada’s capitol in Ottawa, Edelweiss has seen incredible growth and the first of two visits for the Lucas Oil Canadian Invasion Series takes place. This will be the fourth full point show of the season that will pay $2,000 to win thanks to the fine folks from Northwood 2 Construction in sponsoring the 25 lap A-Main. With the added travel tow bonus to each team a special $375 just to take the green is also in place. Service De Pneus Capitale’ will back the Walt’s Hobby Dash Series event in what will be a wild night with the Molson/Coors Girls on hand for the celebration.

Last season saw Lance Yonge and Jason Barney make visits to victory lane with drivers expected to be on hand joined by current ESS point leader Steve Poirier, Lucas Oil point leader Jeff VanDusen, defending champion Alain Bergeron and other Quebec natives Michael Parent and Normand Beaudreault.

Saturday night, July 14th, Frogtown International Speedway:

This will be also the first of two visits to the fast half-mile located on the Akwesasne Indian Reservation in Hogansburg, N.Y. Frogtown produces one of the tackiest surfaces on the ESS tour and speeds well over 100 M.P.H. are the norm. Many improvements are starting at the facility with added investors this season which include Dave Thompson who also sponsors the car of Bubby Kerrick.

Last year Jeff Cook claimed his only A-Main victory of the season with the season’s ending point show falling to rain. He will be joined by ESS stars such as Kerrick, Mike Stelter, Justin Barger, Cory Sparks, Jessica Zemken and others. Frenchie’s Chevrolet from Massena, N.Y. is big supporters of ESS by picking up sponsorship of both Walt’s Hobby Dash Series events.

Sunday night, July 15th, Cornwall Motor Speedway, $2,000 to win, $300 to take the green:

This marks the second and final visit to the quick quarter-mile just across the St. Lawrence Seaway in Ontario. Another $2,000 to win main event with West Front Construction sponsoring the 25 lap finale with the event also paying $300 to take the green. Good friends from Northwood 2 Construction will sponsor the $100 to win, 4 lap, Walt’s Hobby Dash Series event.

Just four weeks prior, Jeff VanDusen won the first Lucas Oil Canadian Invasion Series event at Cornwall. He will be the man to beat this Sunday with such stars as Justin Barger, Tommy Wickham, Brian McDonald, Rick Wilson, Jared Zimbardi, Tim Kelly and others looking to stop the sweep.

Quebec, New York and Ontario: Three different cultures, three flavors of action with the stars and cars from the Empire Super Sprints and the tour brought to you by Jacobs Motorsports ready to put on a show for you. For 25 years, tradition continues with excitement guaranteed!!
