A good mix of drivers is expected for the Lucas Oil Canadian DIRT Challenge

Cornwall, On – Wednesday July 11, 2007 – The Lucas Oil Canadian DIRT Challenge is starting this week-end with the presentation of two of the five events. Autodrome Granby has the honour to start with the first race presented by Les Pneus Robert Bernard. On the following night, Coffrage 20-20 sponsors the second race at Autodrome Drummond.

Many drivers of Granby and Drummond already confirmed their participation to this great series. The 2006 champion, David Hebert will be there to defend is title. He will have some great competition with the Robidoux, Bussière, Mario Clair, Gino Clair, Therrien, Bernard, Brouillard, Boisvert, Léveillé, Gougeon, Gamache, Dusseault and others that will try to get this coveted crown.

The involvement of drivers from Edelweiss, Brockville and Cornwall should be better in 2007. Finishing fifth last year in the point race, Brian McDonald will be there along with Pierre Dagenais who finished eight in the standings. Other racers like, John Mulder, Paul Pekkonen, Laurent and Lee Ladouceur, Stéphane Lafrance, Mike Adderly, Lance Willix will also be showing their talent. Danny O’Brien, who had won the title in 2005, have shown some interest in taking part in the series but he was still waiting after is motor when this text was written, we are hoping to see him in Granby this Friday. A few Frogtown regulars have shown some interest in participating in the series.

A good initiative from Coffrage 20-20, who decided to sponsor a Dash for Cash on Saturday night at Drummond with quite an interesting formula, here how it goes: The top 12 cars that qualified in the heat will take part in the Dash. A draw will be done in front of the grandstand for their position just before the race. It will be the draw for both the Dash and the feature. It will be a 12 lap distance Dash that will be done in 3 stages. A caution will occur on lap 4 and positions 9, 10, 11 and 12 will be eliminated. The green flag for 4 other laps until a second caution on lap 8 will slow the field and spots 5, 6, 7 et 8 will be gone. Only 4 cars will remain for the last 4 laps. A draw will be made between these 4 drivers for the last stage of that race. The green flag will be given for the last time. The winner of the Dash for Cash will receive a cool $1000 and second place will get $500. It is a good way to attract some cars to Drummond.

With all those names, we should get over 30 cars at both speedways for this first weekend of the series. A lot of action is expected, we want to invite everyone to attend. Time Trials starts at 6:30 pm at both tracks and qualifications at 7pm.
