BREWERTON, NY – The New York Modified Midgets will make their 2007 season Brewerton Speedway appearance this Friday July 20 on Beck Equipment / Scouting Night. All Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts will be admitted free of charge with their full uniform on. Also in race action will be the headline DIRTcar Modifieds, IMCA Modifieds, ESDCA Mod Lites, and 4-Cylinder Super Stocks. Race time at the Route 11 track is set for 7:30pm.
Competition continues to be intense in the headline DIRTcar Modified division with seven different winners as of this writing. Before the 2007 season is over, there could be over ten winners gracing victory lane. Winning to date are Willy Decker, Alan Johnson, Kevin Bates, Tom Sears, Roy Bresnahan, Jimmy Phelps, and Steve Hulsizer. Looking for their first wins of the year in this Friday’s huge 35-lap main event are Chuck Bower, Dan Vauter, Jim Witko, Tim Sears, and Kyle Lewis. Willy Decker now holds a slim 11-point advantage over Alan Johnson in the standings.
Dale Caswell continues to be the driver to beat in the IMCA Modified division even though he is just six points out of the point lead, which rival Kevan Cook holds. Pete Anderson, Greg Kimball, and Rich Riggs are also high in the points. In the ESDCA Mod Lites, Dan Williams is way ahead of the field even though he is in somewhat of a slump the last several weeks as second place and third place Doug Williams and Tim Devendorf have won. Claude Hutchings Jr. is still the leader in the 4-Cylinder Super Stocks, but Chuck Powelczyk and Matt Wetterer are still in striking distance.
The New York Modified Midgets will make their first and only appearance of the 2007 race season at Brewerton Speedway this Friday. The NYMM cars are close cousins of the Sprint Cars with wings high above the roll cages and 600cc engines. Currently the NYMM standings shows Dan Miller at the top with Zack Morgan, Ryan Jordaon, Timex Morgan, Jim Radney, Jim Lafler, Kevin Norton, Joe Zahno, Nick Cooper, and Kirsten Dombroski right behind.
The gates this Friday July 20 at Brewerton Speedway on Beck Equipment / Scouting Night will open at 5:30pm with racing beginning at 7:30pm. Admission prices are set at $14 for Adults, $7 for ages 10-14, and children 9 and under are free with a paid adult. Any area Cub Scout, Boy Scout, or Girl Scout coming to the races in full uniform will be admitted free of charge.
