Tyler Armstrong sweeps Williliams Grove/ Trailway Shootout.

TYLER ARMSTRONG SWEEPS WILLIAMS GROVE/TRAILWAY SHOOTOUT

MECHANICSBURG, PA – Tyler Armstrong scored his second consecutive victory and third of the season in limited late model competition Saturday night at Williams Grove Speedway.

The victory also gave Armstrong a sweep of the Miller Racing Parts Williams Grove/Trailway Late Model Shootout.

Armstrong’s triumph was worth $1400, including a $300 bonus from Riland Vinyl Graphics and his point money from Miller Racing Parts.

The 21-year old Armstrong started third by the luck of the draw and moved into the runnerup spot on lap four.

Tom Blackwell started on the pole and set the early pace until Armstrong used an inside move off turn two on lap eight to take the lead.

Once in front he was never challenged.

Terry Flaherty, who started fifth, finished second. Shaun Jones, Pat Beard and Jerry Bard completed the top five.

Bobby Beard, Jake Lettich, Bob Dunn, Randy Croop and Mike Spangler finished in positions six through ten respectively.

Limited late model heats were won by Armstrong, Bard and Jones.

Bob Gutshall took the lead on the third circuit and went on to win the 20-lap street stock championship.

Kory Sites took second place on the last lap. Rodney Clouser, Eric Johnston and Randy Patterson rounded out the top five.

Heritage Acres and Salisbury Mechanical Services sponsored the street stock championship.

Street stock heats were won by Todd Snook and Clouser.

Larry Stine won the 15-lap 4-cylinder stock car feature followed by John Stoll, Kevin Thomas, John Henry and Larry Long.

Brian Wentzel, Thomas and Stoll won 4-cylinder heats.

David Wilhelm won the 50-lap Enduro.

Ninety-four cars competed in the racing program including 26 limited late models, 17 street stocks, 27 4-cylinder stocks and 24 enduro stocks.

The super sportsman cars will return to headline the next Saturday Night Series event at Williams Grove scheduled for July 28.
