Weather Wipes Out ASCS Patriots at Brockvile

Rich Vleck, BROCKVILLE, Ont., (July 14, 2007)- The 2007 Mid-Season Champion never even had a chance to see sunshine on Saturday as the second race at Brockville was cancelled due rain.

The $2,000-to-win, $300-to-start event was set to feature a stout field of the best drivers in the Northeast, but there was nothing to be done to prevent the cancellation.

“This is a real disappointment for the series, the drivers, the track and the fans,” said Patriot Regional Director Mike Emhof. “It’s just unfortunate that we get rained out on our longest tow of the year, but there is not much you can do when it comes to weather.”

A makeup date is unlikely at a track that was one of three to host a $2,000-to-win ASCS Patriot event sponsored by Riverside Bar and Grill in Gananoque, Ontario. The Bar is set to be open for full business this upcoming week.

The ASCS Patriots return to action at the end of the month, on July 29 for a special event at the Cayuga County Fair Speedway. With a solid field likely, A-Verdi Storage Containers will be sponsoring the fifth leg of the King of CNY Series, the night of racing at the track, as well as the Central New York Mini Sprints, which will be in attendance.
