Empire Super Sprint Events at Frogtown and Cornwall Fall to Rain: Cornwall to be made up on August 19th.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After a very exciting event Friday night at the Autodrome Edelweiss Speedway, the stars and cars of the Empire Super Sprints (ESS) and the tour brought to you by Jacobs Motorsports saw Mother Nature as the A-Main victor Saturday night at the Frogtown Int’l Speedway as well as the Cornwall Motor Speedway on Sunday.
While the event at Frogtown can not be made up due to the lack of any open Saturday night slots in both schedules, the event at Cornwall will be held on August 19th. Since no races were run, any new sprint teams that were not on hand at Cornwall will be able to enter and join the fun with the other 25 cars that did fill the pits.
Officials at Frogtown had one of the best surfaces ever to greet the 22 cars scheduled to run the heat events. But, just as the second hot lap session took to the track a heavy sprinkle began to fall and after a few minute wait it was best to cancel the show.
On Sunday, two separate rain delays still didn’t have the towel thrown in quite yet, but just as the first sprint heat was getting ready to line up the skies opened up for a third and final time. On August 19th, the Lucas Oil Canadian Invasion Series will make a return visit and the West Front Construction A-Main will still pay $2,000 to win and $300 to start.
Next on the agenda for ESS will be a return to the “Track of Champions”, the Fonda Speedway after a long 12 year hiatus. The Earl Halaquist Memorial this Saturday night, July 21st will also pay $2,000 to the winner of the 25 lap A-Main. For more information, please log on to www.empiresupersprints.com .
