Two More for ASCS Sprints on Dirt This Weekend
Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (July 17, 2007) – Closing in on the midpoint of the 2007 Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz slate, the series is set for two more events in Michigan this weekend.
On Friday night, the series takes to the high-banked, ½-mile Hartford Speedway Park clay oval in Hartford, MI, for the third time this season. Then on Saturday night, it's on to the semi-banked, 3/8-mile Crystal Motor Speedway clay oval in Crystal, MI, for the second time this year.
With eight events in the books, Brett Man of Goshen, IN, holds a slim 14-point lead over two-time series champion Tim Norman of Warsaw, IN. Still looking for his first win of the year, Man has finished among the top five in all seven feature events. Norman scored a June 1 victory at I-96 Speedway.
Sixty points off the lead pace entering the weekend is Ben Rutan of Jerome, MI, with Bill Johnson of Linden, MI, and Gary Fast of Kalkaska, MI, tied for fourth another 14 points back.
Joe Bares of Traverse City, MI, enters the weekend ranked sixth, with the balance of the top ten including rookie contender Ryan Ruhl (Angola, IN), Dain Naida (Belleville, MI), Dustin Daggett (Portland, MI) and 17-year-old rookie shoe Jake Stebner (Elmira, MI).
Daggett has triumphed in both previous visits to Hartford Speedway Park this season while also topping the series earlier stop at Crystal Motor Speedway.
Friday's action at Hartford Speedway Park gets under way at 8:00 p.m., with Saturday's card at Crystal Motor Speedway going green at 7:30 p.m.

The 28th year of action for the ASCS Sprints on Dirt consists of 20 championship events at ten different tracks throughout Michigan as well as Ontario.
The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With a dozen different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
