FRIDAY NIGHT: BRIAN LEPPO BEATS STEVE KINSER AT WILLIAMS GROVE
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- Brian Leppo evened the score for the
Pennsylvania Posse with a victory in the 25-lap World of Outlaws sprint
car feature Friday at Williams Grove Speedway on the second night of the
Cleveland Brothers Summer Nationals presented by Advance Auto Parts.
Leppo started alongside Steve Kinser on the front row and won the
drag race into the first corner.
Once in front Leppo moved to the inside of the racetrack and gave
Kinser little opportunity to attempt a pass. Leppo was superior through
turns one and two, but Kinser managed to close through three and four.
Kinser tried in vain to make a pass on the outside of turn four on
several occasions but couldn't make his car stick and Leppo cruised to a
1.649 second victory over the 20-time World of Outlaws champion.
Leppo, 28, a weekend racer from New Oxford, Pa., scored his second
career victory and earned $5000 for his performance.
Lucas Wolfe moved from his sixth starting position to third and was
within a few car lengths of Kinser throughout the race.
Paul McMahan and Craig Dollansky completed the top five.
Donny Schatz, who started 16th, charged to a sixth place finish.
Kenny Jacobs came from tenth to seventh.
Jason Sides settled for 8th and finished the first two nights of
the Summer Nationals as the point leader heading into Saturday's finale.
Doug Esh and Jason Martin completed the top ten.
Steve Buckwalter set fast time with a lap of 17.219.
Heats for the 54 cars in competition were won by Kinser, Joey
Saldana, McMahan and Martin.
The Crane Cams Dash was won by Kinser.
Tim Shaffer won the B-main and Jim Siegel copped the C.
