West Lebanon, NY: A hot summer night of racing was the order of the
day at
the legendary Valley of Speed this past Saturday night. Sayer’s Auto
Wrecking and DeVries Builders Supply even ponied-up a little extra cash
for
the Pro Stocks to make the night even more interesting.

Victor Hopkins and Ed Bishop sat at the front of the field to bring the
20
lap feature to the green. Bishop’s #11 took control of the field
early, but
the veterans and a couple of young guns were on the move to the front.
On
the charge was the #76 of the current point leader Kevin Arnold. Also
the
#24 of Robbie Speed and the #324 of Jay Casey were all charging to get
a
chance at the top spot.

After a few yellows flews, the worst of which being on lap 12 when
there was
heavy contact between the #165 of Ed Bachand, and the #78 of Paul
LaRochelle, and the #35 of Rick Dempsey. LaRochelle and Dempsey were
able
to continue, not so lucky for Bachand; he was done for the night.

On the restart, Kevin Arnold had taken over the top spot just a few
laps
earlier, now was under pressure from both Casey’s; Jay and Jason. Jay
Casey
got the sling shot off turn two just a lap later and took over the top
spot.
From there, it was all Casey to the checkers. The Jay’s Lawn Care
#322
took the checkers and the $500.00 bonus from Sayer’s Auto Wreckers and
DeVries Building Supply. 2nd was Arnold, followed by the #38m of Mike
Middleton, the #8 of Jay Corbin rallied back from an earlier incident
to
finish 4th, and the #324 of Jason Casey rounded out the top 5.

Next on the schedule of events, was the 30 lap Modified feature event.
The
high banks were packed with excitement as the starting field was packed
with
10 different winners to date, would there be another?

At the point, the blue #88 of Dickie Larking was pacing the field,
along
with the #43K of Kenny Aaronson. At the drop of the green, Larkin
powered
out front, but early in the event, the field was under siege as the big
guns
began to weave their way through the field. The #21J of Jeff Trombley
made
the field move and charged from eighth to 2nd, while behind him; J.R.
Heffner and Andy Bachetti were finding their way through.

Once again, a few cautions slowed the field, but everyone was able to
continue after a brief lap or two. With the big guns getting to the
front,
Larkin’s #88 began to loss the handle, but the first to pounce was the
Albreada Waste #4 of Bachetti, leapfrogging Trombley and Larkin. By
lap 14,
Bachetti was in control, and began to pull away. But the A. Callarusso
and
Sons #74 of Heffner put on a late race charge that got him to the #4,
but
just ran out of time to get by.

Bachetti takes only his 2nd of 2007 followed by the weekly bridesmaid
Heffner. 3rd was a solid run by the #88Q of Matt Quinn, followed by
the FWC
#21J of Jeff Trombley, and the Marshall Oil #98 of Eddie Marshall; who
still
holds a 3 point advantage in the points chase without winner a race yet
in
2007.

On deck to hit the Valley of Speed was the Sportsman class for their 20
lap
feature event. Bill Singer and Jim Cronk were on the front row when
the
green flag flew, but the race was over for Cronk before the first turn,
and
the motor in the #8 expired just a few yards past the start/finish
line.

At the restart, Singer took control of the field for the first portion
of
the event. All was smooth sailing until lap 9 when the #95 of Carmen
Carnibucci slowed going down the backstretch, causing the field to
scatter
to avoid making contact. But further back, heavy contact was made with
the
#122 of Wayne Keyes and the #5 of Chris Tryon, sending Tryon sailing
across
the track, and collecting nearly 5 other cars into turn 3.

After a lengthy clean up, Singer was still out on the point, but
sitting
quietly in second, was the #25 of Frank Harper. Harper, who has
struggled
the first half of the season, put on a mid race charge, and passed
Singer
just after the green flew again. Once he got out in clean air, the TLC

Construction, Thoma Tire #25 was counting the laps for the win.

At the checkers, Harper takes an emotional first win of 2007, after
loosing
a close friend and crew member just a few short weeks ago. 2nd across
the
line was the #2 of K.C. Goewey, followed by the #250 of Alan
Houghtaling,
Art Collins and Kory Sandstedt rounded out the top five.

In the Limited Pro Stocks, Chad Jeseo ended Nick Hilt’s streak of 5
wins in
a row, to take his 3rd win of 2007. Jeseo was followed by Hilt, Gary
Ashley, Rob Maxon, and Chip Martin completing the top 5.

The Pure Stocks were also on the card of events, and this weeks winners

were: PS#1 – Lynn Wesley (her first of 07), PS#2 – John Chapman (his
2nd of
07), and PS#3 – Jay Casey (also his 2nd of the season).

Sunday July 22, 2007 is the return of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car
Series. Carquest Auto Parts present the winged warriors to the Valley
of
Speed, along with the Benjamin Moore Paints 358 Super Series. Pit
gates are
set to open at 3pm, front gates and warm ups to open at 5pm. The WoO
Sprinters pit it set to open by 1pm.

Night”. All classes will be on tap for a night of full racing action,
