THE EDGE MAY PROVIDE SOME EXCITEMENT FOR KIDS NIGHT.
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- On Friday evening, July 27, Williams Grove
Speedway will host the season's second edition of Kids Night.
Sprint cars and limited (358 c.i.) sprints will be the featured
attractions.
The Grove's Saturday Night Series provided the setting for Kid's
Night on June 9 and that event proved to be a tremendous success.
Thanks to the Saturday night racers nearly 150 bicycles were given
away along with various other prizes.
The Kid's Night program also drew by far the largest crowd in the
two-year history of the Saturday Night Series.
Jenn Heintzelman, who coordinated the June 9 event, will be back to
handle the July 27 activities, which will include Big Wheel and bike
races on the speedway for various age groups.
There will also be games and prizes for the kids and another
bicycle giveaway.
All race teams are invited to display their cars in the infield and
sign autographs for the kids prior to the races.
Once again this event has been designed to expose sprint car racing
to potential fans of all ages.
The recent Kasey Kahne Foundation Shootout at Williams Grove
accomplished a similar goal when literally thousands of NASCAR fans got
their first taste of dirt track sprint car racing.
The top sprint car racers in the East will provide the
entertainment on Friday night, and Brian Montieth could well be the most
exciting driver for the kids to watch.
Montieth, known as The Edge, has turned in some incredible passing
performances this season. On July 14 he charged from 18th to finish
3rd. A week earlier he came from 24th to 6th. The week before that he
started 18th and finished second. On June 22 he started 9th and won the
race.
During that stretch Montieth has gained a legion of fans and has
become one of the speedway's most popular drivers.
The first heat is scheduled to start at 8:00 on June 27.
