SPORTSMAN CARS END 5-WEEK ABSENCE JULY 28
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- Following a lengthy absence, the popular super
sportsman cars will return to Williams Grove Speedway on Saturday night,
July 28.
Although a Saturday Night Series event was run at the Grove as
recently as July 14, the sportsman cars were competing at another
speedway as part of the Lawrence Chevrolet Sportsman Tour.
The sportsman cars have not appeared at Williams Grove Speedway
since June 23. The five- week hiatus will come to an end this Saturday
when a large field of the self-starting sprint car lookalikes is
expected to be in competition.
In five 2007 appearances at the Grove, only defending champion
Frankie Herr has been able to score two victories.
Other winners include Gregg Foster, Rich Eichelberger and his son
Aaron Eichelberger.
J. R. Fry is the current point leader followed by Rich
Eichelberger, Paul Miller, Herr and Carmen Perigo.
Saturday night's sportsman program will be sponsored by Chestnut
Sporting Goods of Shermansdale.
In addition to the sportsman cars, the limited late models, street
stocks and 4-cylinder stock cars will also be on the card.
Although 16-year old Tyler Hershey continues to lead the limited
late model point race, Tyler Armstrong has become the man to beat.
Armstrong, 21, owns three victories and has won two of the past three
features in the limited late model division.
Other winners include Hershey, Gene Knaub, Larry Baer and Jake Lettich.
The first heat is scheduled to begin at 7:00 on July 28.
