FONDA, NY – What do a 50-lap $5,000 to win modified feature, a grand fireworks display, and a military flyover by the United States Air Force have in common? They will all be a part of the racing program at the Track of Champions Fonda Speedway on Saturday, July 28.

Along with the modifieds there will be a full card of racing in the sportsman, pro stock, IMCA, and street stock divisions. And all of the additions to the racing program will come with NO INCREASE IN THE REGULAR ADMISSION PRICES!

“That was one thing that we definitely wanted to do,” BBL Companies president Kevin Gleason said. “Spice things up a little for both the drivers and the fans without increasing the admission prices.”

For the last few years BBL Companies has been sponsoring events at Fonda with the evening also being an employee appreciation day for all of their employees. This year will be no exception.

“We have over 300 employees from BBL which includes all of our sponsors and sub contractors that work with us and sponsor Matt DeLorenzo’s racecar,” Gleason said.

Those sponsors include MCD Mechanical, Collett Mechanical, AGM, REO Welding, and Railside Farms.

The purse breakdown for the 50-lap modified feature will be $5,000 to win, $2,200 for second, $1,200 for third, $1,100 for fourth, and $1,000 for fifth.

The pit gates will open on Saturday, July 28 at 3:00 p.m. with front gates opening at 4:00 p.m. and racing at 6:00 p.m. General admission will be $10 for adults; reserved seats will be $12, children 6-11 $3, and children 5 and under are free. Pit admission will be $20 for members and $30 for non-members.

At approximately 7:00 p.m. the American Legion Post 701 will perform the National Anthem followed by the military flyover by the United States Air Force. At approximately 9:00 p.m. the grand fireworks display will be set off before the start of the 50-lap modified feature.

Gleason is also involved in go-kart racing at the Caroga Creek Speedway as his 13 year old son Brian Gleason races there along with Chad Golas whose father Kevin also works at BBL.

“Brian and Chad are doing just as well as Matt (DeLorenzo) is doing right now,” Gleason said. “My son Brian has a total of six wins so far this year at Caroga Creek while Chad has a total of seven wins. Matt has been with us for a long time at BBL and we all enjoy going to watch him race. Dan Wilson of BBL has been working real hard to put together this special night at Fonda and we are all really looking forward to it.”

“I am going to have to step it up and try to win this big event on Saturday,” DeLorenzo said. “If I don’t win it I am never going to hear the end of it from all of my co-workers.”

DeLorenzo and his wife Jessica are also expecting their first child this fall. “The baby is due on Halloween,” he said.

So come out to the Fonda Speedway this Saturday, July 28 and join in on all of the fun. Fonda Speedway is located off of exit 28 of the New York State Thruway. For more information you can call (518) 382-3115 Monday through Friday, (518) 853-4235 on race day or you can go to their website at www.fondaspeedway.com
