Thorold, Ontario (July 26) An action-packed DIRT Weekly Racing Series event at Merrittville will conclude with the second episode of the Marshall - Saturday August 4th at the Thorold speed plant presented by Hingston Metal Fabricators.
“Race fans can look forward to some real exciting metal fabricating when the Marshall returns,” relates (GM) Erica Bicknell, “ we really don’t know what to expect and with our 5 Dirt Weekly Racing Series Stock Cars - some real exciting racing action too.”
Prior to all the racing however – Merrittville Speedway’s Grandstand Area should resemble downtown Port Dover on a Friday the 13th as a special Motorcycle Night is planned to kick off August. Riders interested in displaying their machines should contact the Speedway office at 905-892-8266 for further information.
“A huge amount of drivers … crew members and race fans too are motorcycle enthusiasts,” relates (Merrittville Speedway co-owner) Nancy Bicknell, “the night gives them all a chance to enjoy their bikes and a night of racing too.”
Hingston Metal Fabricators – who celebrated their 50th year of operation in 2003 – will present the special night that will feature racing in all DIRT Weekly Racing Series divisions – the L. St. Amand 358 Modifieds, Original Pizza Logs Sportsmen, Lucas Oil Open Wheel Lites, Hoosier Stocks and the Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinders.
The night will also feature some laps on the track for the Motorcycles and similar to the annual Truck Show ‘n Shine – Merrittville Race Fans will pick their favorite by crowd response in a contest to be led by Clint Geoffrey and Erik Tomas – he Speedway’s announce team anchors.
“The Marshall … well what can we say … some may find it more exciting than our racing event themselves,” boasts Bicknell, “the first episode resembled the
Keystone Kops … we’re anticipating something similar August 4th … we’ll just have to wait and see.”
The new concept Marshall Episodes allows the average fan right out of the stands to join in and become an event winner at a very low cost. Depending the car and it’s modifications – the same car can be eligible for other events – making it a great way to get involved in the sport.
