ASCS Patriots Invade Cayuga County Fair Speedway On Sunday

Tulsa, OK – July 26, 2007 – Rich Vleck, ASCS Patriot Sprint PR

After the final two weekends off of this season, the ASCS Patriots are set to roll into the Cayuga County Fairgrounds this Sunday for one of the premier events on the 2007 schedule.

The final race of July marks the return of sprint cars to CCFS for the first time in over two years after rain wiped out last year’s program. Even though it has been two years since the fans of the 3/8-mile saw the wonderful winged things, the same characters that were up front then will be in the mix once again this time around.

Chuck Hebing won the last two ASCS Patriot events in Weedsport, capturing both in dramatic fashion. “Cobra” currently leads the Championship Standings and is only two points out in the A-Verdi King of Central New York Standings.

Rick Wilson won the only other event the Patriots have run at CCFS, capturing the crown in 2003. The “Joyceville Jet” has not run with ASCS in nearly two months but plans to return to action this Sunday.

Even though he has never won an ASCS Patriot feature, Ray Preston’s most recent sprint car win came in 2005 at Cayuga County, a track just up the road from his Romulus, NY residence. Another local, Blake Breen, was second in that event and will be on hand along with his brother, Bobby, the winner of the most recent ASCS Patriot event.

Bryan Howland, who hails just down the road from Auburn, is always a fan favorite at Cayuga County and by the good graces of the airlines will be back in action Sunday. Howland is flying up that afternoon from Charlotte, NC for his final event before a trip out west to Knoxville.

Jessica Zemken will be competing with her 410 during the week, but will return Sunday with a fresh power plant in her No. 1z to continue moving up the ladder of the King of CNY standings. “JZ” has never before run a sprint car at CCFS.

Fresh off an extremely impressive showing out west in the ASCS National Speedweek, Coleman Gulick celebrates his big birthday at Weedsport wheeling his No. 14. As usual, Gulick will be joined by 2004 Patriot Champion George Suprick from Clarks Summit, PA.

Other names such as Jason Barney, Don Adamczyk, Scott Kreutter, Chris Muhleisen, Dave Wickham and two-time winner Jared Zimbardi continue to hunt the King of CNY title in the thrilling 25-lap feature.

Jared Fink will be among those to pull “double-duty” on Sunday, as he wheels both his No. 21a J&J, along with his A-Verdi Central New York Mini Sprint.

Racing action begins promptly at 7:00 p.m. For more information, please visit www.ASCSracing.com or www.ASCSpatriotsprints.com.
