Mann Handles ASCS Sprints on Dirt at Cherry
T.J. Buffenbarger, FIFE LAKE, Mich. (July 27, 2007) Brett Mann won his first Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz feature of the 2007 season Friday night at Cherry Speedway. Mann also delivered the first career victory for third year car owners Bill Rowlee and Herb Frolick. The victory also broke a tie in the point standings with Tim Norman, putting Mann six points ahead of Norman.
This is great for Bill and Herb, said Mann. They have worked hard for three years and I was glad to get them in victory lane. Mann also commented how he was starting to get worried due to a promise he made about retiring if he ever had a winning season.
Mann and Mark Stemen started on the front row for the 25 lap feature. Mann and Stemen raced side by side for the first lap before Mann nosed ahead and turns three and four. Stemen eventually slid high and allowed Norman and Ryan Grubaugh through.
Late in the event Grubaugh moved around Norman with a power move to the outside and set sail after Mann. Mann was masterful on restarted and held on for the victory. Grubaugh, Norman, Rutan, and Stemen rounded out the top five.
Nathan Bevard and Mann won the preliminary heat races.
