Forestville, PA-July 29, 2007- Weather had been cooperating with the Forestville area throughout Sunday afternoon. As evening approached, however, Mother Nature decided to play the role of show spoiler at Big Diamond Raceway.

Sunday’s three-division show of Winged Super Sportsman, Limited Late Models, and Central PA Legends was rained-out. Racing began promptly at the advertised start time of 6:00PM, and Rich Eichelberger of Dillsburg won the opening 10-lap Sportsman heat. Rain settled in during the second qualifier and Sunday’s card eventually drew to a conclusion.

The Central PA Legends had a National Qualifier scheduled and they will now be returning on Friday August 17. Close to thirty Legend Cars were on hand for this event. Rain checks will be good for the Friday August 17 show, or a $12 value towards any other Friday night event this season.

Negotiations are continuing as to the rescheduled date for Winged Super Sportsman and Limited Late Models. At the present time, Sunday August 12 or Sunday August 19 is being considered as possible race dates.

The Wingless ARDC Midget-cars return to Big Diamond this Friday evening August 3. ARDC is making their fifth appearance of the season. On their last visit (Friday June 8, 2007), rain was the eventual winner after qualifying had been completed. The end result finds ARDC booking a pair of features (one make-up and one regular) for this Friday night.

Dave Ely of West Lawn and Frank Polimeda of Fort Lee NJ are previous ARDC winners this season at BDR. Polimeda is a two-time feature winner aboard his #44 machine. With NASCAR Nextel Cup visiting the racing area this weekend, driver J.J. Yeley of Phoenix AZ is planning on competing with ARDC at BDR once again. Yeley saw BDR action back on June 7 and 8 as well.

Gates open at 5:00PM this Friday August 3. Warm-ups begin at 7:00PM and the opening heat goes green at 7:30PM. Adult General Admission to the grandstands is $14, students-seniors-military is $12, children 10 and under are admitted free.

Sunday August 5 is race number four of the Naftzinger’s Used Auto Parts Nutty Buddy Enduro series. A 4-cylinder enduro and 6/8 cylinder enduro will be held. Racing begins at 4:00PM, and grandstand Adult General Admission is just $5. For enduro rules and important information, please visit the speedway’s official website located at www.bigdiamondraceway.com

Friday August 10 will be a very special night of racing. A tribute to Chad Miller will take place, along with a three-division card of 358 Modifieds ($3000 to win), Sportsman, and Roadrunners. Chad was a young 17-year old crew member of the Jeff Strunk/Keystone Racing #126 Modified. Sadly, Chad lost his life in an automobile accident a few weeks ago. The evening will be presented in his honor.

Plenty of racing remains on the 2007 schedule. Big Diamond Raceway is a three-eighths mile clay oval located in the Coal Region of Schuylkill County, PA.
