SHOT DROP 358/360 NATIONALS AND 410s AUGUST 3
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- A schedule change due to a rain out has set
the stage for a special event at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday
evening, August 3, when the Shot Drop 360 Sprint Nationals sanctioned by
URC will be presented.
In addition to the 360 Nationals, a complete program of 410 c.i.
sprint ca racing featuring the stars of the Pennsylvania Posse will also
be on the card.
This event was rained out on June 8 following the completion of
time trials for the 360 Nationals. At that time URC officials announced
that the time trial results from June 8 would be used to set the lineups
for the rain date.
Since there will be no time trials for the rescheduled event, the
first qualifying heat is set to begin at 8:00 on August 3.
A strong field of forty-eight 358/360 sprints attempted to qualify
on June 8 before rain and heavy winds put an end to the night's activity.
Lucas Wolfe, driving the Rick Kaylor 13K, set fast time with a lap
of 17.640. He was followed by Kramer Williamson, Chad Layton and Justin
Collett.
All four drivers have won sprint car features at Williams Grove in
the past.
The event's defending champion, Pat Cannon, has been on a roll in
358 competition at Williams Grove and should be ranked as one of the
favorites again this year.
Heats, a possible C-main, and a B-main will fill the field for the
feature which will pay $4000 to win.
In the Grove's sprint car division the race for the Cindy Rowe Auto
Glass championship will continue this week with several drivers still in
the running for the track title.
Defending champion Fred Rahmer is being challenged by Jeff Shepard,
Greg Hodnett, Todd Shaffer, Brian Montieth and Doug Esh.
