FRENCHTOWN, NJ - Billy Pauch Jr. heads to Pocono Raceway next weekend (Aug. 2-4) with something he was missing in his last visit.
Experience.
The 20-year-old son of Northeast racing legend Billy Pauch returns to the 2.5-mile triangular superspeedway to compete in the Pennsylvania 200 on Sat., Aug. 4, his second start in the ARCA RE/MAX Series.
"Now we now a little bit more of what's going on," said the Frenchtown, N.J., native, who will return to Pocono with the same No. 09 Dodge Intrepid backed by Dick Greenfield Dodge, Chad Sinon's BPG Racing and Mopar that he ran there in his June 9 ARCA debut.
Pauch Jr. was strong in his first ARCA run back in June, running in the top five before an engine expired on the 70th circuit of the 80-lap event. He was scored 29th.
"At least we got some laps and a little confidence knowing how well we ran there last time," Pauch said. "It's a different approach."
Clyde Cox of Flemington, N.J., will again serve as the team's crew chief. Cox and Pauch work together regularly on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, where the third-generation racer is challenging for Rookie of the Year honors.
The versatile young driver also spends time behind the wheel of dirt-track big- and small-block Modifieds (he is a two-time winner in 2007 at Pa.'s Big Diamond Raceway) and an ARDC wingless Midget.
The Pennsylvania 200 will be broadcast live on SPEED TV on Aug. 4 from 1-3 p.m.
