CENTER LISLE, NY --- Mike Dimorier, former Modified competitor, has
plugged
and plugged away this season, but has come up just shy of the elusive
win in
the Sportsman Modified ranks, until Saturday night, that is. Other
winners
included Parker Evans in the NY Modified Midgets, Rich Talada in the
Hurricane Street Stocks, and Earl Zimmer in the Road Warriors.
Jason Tuttle led the Autoworks of Ithaca Sportsman Modifieds to the
green
flag, but Mike Dimorier would lead the field to the stand the first
time
around, as Dimorier made a stellar move on the high side to grab the
lead in
his Upstate Auto Center Teo car. That would be the winning move for
Dimorier, leading it all 20 laps. Meanwhile back in the field, hot and
heavy action led to heated slugfests in the middle of the pack.
Deposit’s
Shawn Mills was able to get through it all and put himself in the
runner-up
position. An on-track altercation between Chance Spoonhower and Josh
Pursell that carried over into the grandstand and pit areas would
ultimately
jeopardize the security of the evening, and the race would be checkered
at
lap 20. The win went to Dimorier, while Mills held onto 2nd, Chris
Stull in
3rd, Eddie White 4th, and Mike Austin rounded out the top 5.
Suspensions
will be issued and handed down to those teams of Josh Pursell and
Chance
Spoonhower for their involvement in Saturday night’s incidents.
Rich Talada made it three wins in three weeks in the Billy’s Auto Sales
&
Service Hurricane Street Stocks. Talada had to work his way through
the
field early on, but struck when the moment presented itself, grabbing
the
race lead. The Chemung native would face pressure in the form of
Steven
“Hoss” Deinhart for the lead, with the two competitors running nose to
tail
for the remaining five laps. Talada would hang on for the win, with
Deinhart coming across the line in 2nd. The win gave Talada the points
lead
back, but less that 5 points separates Deinhart and Talada in the
standings.
Daryl Krebs chalked up another top 5, coming home 3rd, with Mike
Wilbur
Sr. in 4th, and Donnie Russell Jr. rounding out the top 5.
Earl Zimmer came through the field and dominated the Road Warrior
feature
event, winning his 8th feature of the season, and his 3rd in 3 weeks.
Bill Westlake led the NYMM series to the green, and led about half the
distance in the 25 lap event, but the boys on the move were Parker
Evans and
Ryan Jordan. The 15 year old Evans managed to get by Westlake, and
opened a
commanding lead. Jordan would follow suit for the runner-up spot, but
Evans
was about a half straightaway ahead. Lap traffic would play a part,
allowing Jordan to reel in the #61 machine, but Evans poised himself
and
negotiated the issue well, coming home with the victory.
