A big month of August at Edelweiss Speedway

Cantley, PQ - Tuesday, July 31, 2007 – It is another jammed packed and exciting month of August that awaits race fans at Edelweiss Speedway. With five race programs on the schedule, everyone will get a taste of what they like.
The month starts well with the Mohawk Race Parts Pro-Stock Series, a 50 lap feature event which will be the third race of the series. Many Frogtown and Cornwall regulars are expected to be at Edelweiss. A complete race program is also on hand on Service de pneu capital night.
The following Friday, on August 10, Les toitures Marcel Raymond presents, a complete race program plus the last race in the series for modified and semi-pro. A demolition derby at the end of the night is also on the schedule, the winner will pocket a cool $1200.
The Empire Super Sprints will be in town for their second visit of the season on the 3/8-mile track. The ESS always attracts the best crowds of the year. A complete race program is also on hand for that night; the 4 cylinders class will have a night off. Coffrage Ti-Guy Connelly will be the sponsor of that evening.
A special event on Friday, August 24 on Ray Matte Couvreur night. It will be the run what ya brung show for the modifieds. Drivers will be able to do major modifications to their cars as long has it will stay a modified. Each year, some have original creations and the speeds that these cars get, is quite impressive. A complete program plus the last race in pro-stock series is also on the schedule.
On the fifth and last Friday night of the month, SLBL Construction will present another special evening. All classes will have a 25 lap distance feature race. It will also be the last night in the point’s race for each category. An enduro race was just added for that night, a 25 lap race at the end of the night, the track will be watered and the top three will receive respectively $250, $150 and $100.
The champions of each category will also be determined in August. Laurent Ladouceur currently has a 4-point margin on his son Lee and Dave Heaslip is third with 44 points back. In the Pro-Stock class, Dave Bissonnette leads with 612 points, which is 12 points more than Joey Ladouceur, Denis Gauvreau is third with 580 points. Marc Lalonde has a great lead of 42 points over Richard Brady (492 vs 450) in the Semi-Pro championship. Mark Trudeau is third with 424 points. In the 4 cylinders class, Martin Lagacé leads the way with 552 points while Gabriel Mercier and Yannick Raymond are tied in second with 528 points each.
There are still great battles in following weeks to crown track champions.
