KIRKWOOD, NY…The Race of Champions Dart Dirt Modified Tour and Sportsman Tour south region point titles will be decided this Wednesday, August 8th here at Five Mile Point Speedway. Race time is 7 p.m. This past Tuesday, Pat Ward collected his first RoC victory and in the process took over the south region point lead. Ward will lead a strong field of the top Modified talent to the Point next Wednesday night.

With his 75 lap victory at Penn Can, Ward took over the point lead entering the finale at Five Mile Point Speedway. Ward holds a 20 point lead over Kevin Bates. Middletown Speedway talent Jerry Higbie, Jr. sits in third place with Brian Weaver and Mike Gular completing the top five slots.

The last stop at Five Mile Point Speedway for the RoC Dart Dirt Modified Tour was on just about a month ago on July 12th. Billy Decker emerged the winner of that race over Jack Johnson, Alan Johnson, Danny Johnson and Mitch Gibbs. Current Five Mile Point Modified point leader Jim Crawn was advancing during the early stages of the 75 lapper but mechanical woes sent him pit side. In the companion RoC Dart Dirt Sportsman Tour Danny Creedan recorded the win over Michael Storms, Kyle Weiss, Joey Colsten and Les Gillette.

A fantastic battle is taking shape in the RoC Dart Dirt Sportsman point chase as defending tour champion Danny Creedan shares the point lead with Kyle Weiss. The duo shares a one point lead over southern tier racer Mike Loney. Local talent Joey Colsten sits in fourth place with New Jersey standout John Stangle in fifth in the standings. The championship will be determined on Wednesday.

The big night of racing will also include Ken Schrader competing in the Empire State IMCA Modified Tour event. Schrader will be behind the wheel of a brand new Dale Caswell owned car. Caswell is currently the national IMCA Modified point leader.
