Patience the key for 50 laps at Fremont.

By Brian Liskai

FREMONT, Ohio (Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007) - They call it a "sprint" race, but 50-laps on a one-third mile, semi-banked clay oval takes more than just speed. It involves knowledge, the right set-up for late in the race, and above all...patience.

The second Crown Battery/KOT Trucking 50-lap Challenge will be held at Fremont Speedway Saturday, Aug. 11, paying the feature winner of the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints $5,000!. Bloomington, Indiana's Kelly Kinser showed how experience and a little bit of luck can pay off in such a long race, as he nursed a sputtering motor home on June 2, to claim the first $5,000 Crown Battery/KOT Trucking 50-lap affair at "The Track That Action Built."

Not only will the 50-lap feature pay $5,000 to win, but the rest of the purse is impressive - $2,500 for second; $1,700, third; $1,400 for fourth, $1,300 for fifth, $1,200 for sixth; $1,150 for seventh; $1,100 for eighth; $1,050 for ninth; $1,000 for 10th; $900 for 11th; $800 for 12th; $700 for 13th; $600 for 14th; $500 for 15th; $450 for 16th; and $400 for 17-20th.

Also, many older race fans can remember the special races like the Austrailian Pursuit. Well, on Aug. 11th, that race will return to Fremont Speedway for the Don Eckhardt Memorial Austrailian Pursuit. The race will feature the traditional single file start with the "if you're passed you're out" format. On the June 2 Austrailian Pursuit, Fremont's Bobby Clark took home the $300 bonus.

The Fremont Fence Dirt Trucks and the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints are also on the racing card. Thanks to associate sponsorship from Bob's Machine Shop of Fostoria, all the trucks will run a feature Saturday, Aug. 11, as they will be split into two complete fields - those 1st, 3rd, 5th, ect. in the points will run one feature, even in points the other.

And for the kids. the Tackle Box II will give away 10 bikes for those youngsters 10 and under!
Admission for Saturday, Aug. 11 is $18 for adults; $15 for senior citizens and teens ages 11-16 will get in for $9 (10 and under free as always).

This will be the last show at "The Track That Action Built" as the track shuts down for the historical Sandusky County Fair until Sunday, Sept. 2 as Burns Iron & Metal Presents the 305 Sprint Invitational with one of the biggest purses in the country for that division!. The dirt trucks and school buses will also be in action.
