SATURDAY: FIRST GROVE WIN FOR STAN WANNER
MECHANICSBURG, PA â Stan Wanner survived a last ditch effort by Gregg Foster and went on to win the 20-lap Rick Barr Plumbing super sportsman feature Saturday night at Williams Grove Speedway.
Dave Berkheimer started on the pole and led the first 15 laps before he lost a wheel in turn four, which ended his night.
Wanner, who started fourth, took over on lap 16 and appeared to be headed for his first Williams Grove victory, but Foster had other ideas.
Foster had moved from his 11th starting spot into the runnerup position by lap 17 and began to close on the leader. He drove deep into turn three on the last lap and slid in front of Wanner exiting the final corner. Foster, however, lost traction momentarily which allowed Wanner to beat him to the finish line by a car length.
David Socks finished third. Frankie Herr came from the 12thstarting position to claim fourth and Rich Eichelberger moved from 14th to finish fifth.
Chris Reed, Leroy Martin, Carmen Perigo, Ryan Rupp and Jeremy Strausser completed the top ten.Strausser, Jake Raudabaugh, Duaine Smith and Socks won sportsman heats. Steve Wilbur and John Stehman claimed the consolation races.
