Moughan Masters Morgan County.
Jacksonville, IL (8-03-07) Joey Moughan has had several instances of bad
luck during O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series events this season but luck
and patience helped the Springfield, IL. driver gain his first series
win before a large home crowd at the Morgan County Speedway Friday night.
Moughan took advantage of the three top qualifiers failing to finish in
the top four in their respective heats to gain the fourth starting
position in the feature. He bolted into second at the start, following
leader Terry Babb. When Babb cut a tire on lap eight, Moughan claimed
the point, leading the remainder of the event. A.J. Bruns was second,
with All Star Circuit of Champions star Danny Smith, Tim Montgomery and
series point leader Jerrod Hull rounding out the top five. The win paid
Moughan $2,000.
Hull, Jimmy Hurley and Rob Standridge claimed heat wins and Hurley
copped the Dash. Paul May topped the twenty-one contestants with a lap
of 11.534.
Ryan Bunton took a wild ride in the second heat, sailing over the turn
one wall and landing some forty feet outside of the track. He was shaken
but otherwise uninjured.

New Florence, MO (8-4-07) Jimmy Hurley captured his second O’Reilly
Midwest All Stars feature win by leading wire-to-wire in the thirty-lap
feature before a large crowd at Montgomery County Speedway in New
Florence, MO. Hurley started on the pole and was never seriously
challenged in the feature but there was some outstanding racing behind him.
While Hurley set sail, Ryan Bunton, Jerrod Hull, Joey Montgomery, Tim
Montgomery and Jason Keith waged a spirited battle for the runner-up
spot. Bunton, in a borrowed car following a harrowing crash the previous
night in Jacksonville, looked to have the advantage but had a tire go
down with eight laps left. Joey Montgomery would claim second, followed
by series point leader Hull, Rob Standridge, who advanced through the
field after starting fourteenth, Keith and Tim Montgomery. Cory Bruns
recorded his best finish of the season, coming home seventh, while
Tiffany Wyzard, Tommy Rockwell and Jeremy Standridge completed a hard
fought top ten at the quarter mile highbanked track.
Tim Montgomery had fast time at 10.516. Tyler Thompson, Rob Crabdree an
dJason Keith won heats. Hurley won the Dash.
