VERNON , NY- This Sunday, August 12, Bishop Print Shop will present another night of professional short track auto racing with a regular show of 358-Modifieds, Sportsman, Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, and IMCA Modifieds. Also scheduled is the popular Family Autograph Night, allowing fans to interact with their favorite drivers. Gates for this exciting program open at 3 p.m. with racing at 5:30 p.m.
Stewart Friesen is the current point leader in the competitive 358-Modified division, holding off Willy Decker, Pat Ward, Bobby Varin, and Todd Burley. Rounding out the top ten is Ted Lamb, Gus Schmidt, Bill Shantel Jr., John Ramsey, and AJ Romano. Andy Bachetti and Paul Kinney sit just outside the top 10 in the standings and are looking to improve on that to get into the lucrative point fund payoff, which pays the top 10 spots.
In the Sportsman, Mike Button holds a slim point lead over Alan Barker, Danny Varin, Matt Janczuk, and Jeremy Vunk while Jerry Holmes is shown as the leader of the Pro Stock division. Tom Denton, Bret Belden, Chris Mackey, and Bill Knapp round out the top five spot for the Pro Stocks. Russ Marsden finds himself in familiar territory, as he leads the full fendered Pure Stock standings over Chris Carr, Tim Janczuk, Matt Ball, and Jim Thomas. In the IMCA Modified standings, Jim Roberts holds the top spot over Kevan Cook, Aaron Jacobs, Mike Jacobs, and Dale Caswell.
During intermission of the action packed program, weather permitting, all the cars and stars that compete at the Utica-Rome Speedway will be called out onto the speedway for an autograph session. Fans will be allowed on to the track to collect autographs and have pictures taken with their favorite stars.
Admission for this Sunday’s event is $11 for adults with children 9 and under admitted for free.
