CENTER LISLE, NY --- Paul Jensen made it 4 straight in the Modified
ranks,
Saturday night, on Hart’s Logging Night at the speedway. Chris Stull,
long
time full-fendered driver, chalked up his first career Sportsman
Modified
feature win in the 25 lap event. Other winners included Steven
Deinhart in
the Hurricane Street Stocks, Bruce Kindberg in the 600cc Modifieds,
Earl
Zimmer in the Road Warriors, and Austin Welch and Joel Austin in the
Road
Bandits.

A stout field of Modifieds hit the racing surface for their 30 lap
feature
event. Pole sitter Scott Brady would lead the field to the green, and
would
immediately jump out to the advantage in his #77x machine. Brady would
lead
the first 6 laps, but the man on the move was the “Young Gun” Chad
Cook, as
he worked his way through the field from his 10th starting position.
Cook
would snag the lead on lap 7 and would lead through lap 15. It was on
lap
16, however, that the winning move would be made. “The Poet” Paul
Jensen, as
smooth and methodical as ever, stole away the lead, and walked away
with it
the remaining distance. This was Jensen’s 4th straight win, and 6th on
the
year. Cook would manage to hang onto 2nd, with Tim Mayne 3rd, Wade
Decker
in 4th, and Don Hart Jr. 5th.

Kevin Jordan opened up the season in dominating fashion with many
victories
and up front finishes, but as of late, the veteran has been in a bit of
a
dry spell. He looked to quench his thirst for victory on Saturday
night in
the 25 lap Autoworks of Ithaca Sportsman Modified event. Jordan would
jump
out to the lead from his outside pole starting spot, and would lead the

first dozen laps. At the halfway mark, Chris Stull, driving the Ron
Stanley
owned #41R, found something up on the top shelf. Stull would make it
work,
passing Jordan for the lead at the halfway mark. Stull would go on the

remainder of the race to bring home his first career victory. Jordan
would
salvage the runner-up finish, while Shawn Mills chalked up a 3rd place
finish. PJ Goodwin and Rodney Hart rounded out the top 5.

Mike Wilbur Jr. led the early goings of the 20 lap Hurricane Street
Stock
feature event. Wilbur would turnover the lead to Rich Talada, current
points leader, on lap 4. Talada would then lead a handful of laps
until a
caution brought out a double file restart on lap 8. Steven Deinhart
would
take advantage of his high side restart to jump out to the lead.
Deinhart
would never look back, added another win to his total for the year.
Rich
Talada put forth another consistent effort with the runner-up finish.
Mike
Wilbur Sr. finished 3rd, Michael Morse 4th, and Mike Wilbur Jr. rounded
out
the top 5.

Earl Zimmer did nothing short of domination in the Road Warrior feature

event. Zimmer grabbed the lead on lap 4, and beat the field by an
entire
straightaway in his very potent #2EZ.

The 14 year old phenom Austin Welch has put forth consistent effort
after
consistent effort, in search of that elusive first win. The search
would
end Saturday night, as Welch drove a great race en route to the
checkers.

In the makeup feature for the Road Bandits, Joel Austin piloted his
#735 to
the win, winning by a straightaway over the 2nd place finisher.
Austin’s
last win came in May, so this has been long overdue for “Superman”.

Bruce Kindberg chalked up his 3rd win of the season at Thunder Mountain

Speedway in the 600cc Modified division.

Saturday night, August 11th, will mark a full card at the Thunder
Mountain
Speedway. Most notably, the George Lewis Modified Memorial will take
place,
with more than $700 in lap money going out on each and every lap. This
is a
great race in honor of a late great racer from the Southern Tier,
George
Lewis. Also on tap will the Sportsman, Hurricane Street Stocks, Road
Warriors, Road Bandits, as well as the Road Warrior Powder Puff. Gates
open
at 4 PM, with racing getting underway at 6:30 PM.

Thunder Mountain Speedway is home of the 5th Annual Hurricane Harry A.
Uhl
Street Stock Memorial and hosts racing every Saturday night from April
through October. The Speedway is located off exit 8 of Interstate 81.
From
there follow route 79 west for five miles and turn right in Center
Lisle and
follow the signs. For more information about the upcoming events at

Mountain call the speedway office at (607) 849 - 7889 or checkout our
