ABOUT THE TRACKS
Canandaigua is a fast half-mile clay oval. Billy Decker established the single lap record in an Advance Auto Parts Series event last year when he circled the track in 17.385 seconds (103.538 mph) on Sept. 15, 2006. Seven-time defending track champion Steve Paine is the current points leader with five feature wins while Alan Johnson remains Canandaigua's all-time win leader with 113 DIRT big-block Modified feature victories scored since 1975. Lebanon Valley is a 1/2-mile high-banked oval with the smooth surface one of the fastest on the entire circuit. Andy Bachetti set the Modified record (16.645 sec./91.626 mph) on Sept. 11, 2004. Still in search of his first Big-Block win in ’07, J.R. Heffner tops the current track points chart ahead of Eddie Marshall (1 win) and Bachetti (2). Modified pilot Kenny Tremont is the all-time track feature win leader.

TRACK HISTORY
Nestled in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region, Canandaigua Speedway stands as one of the most revered ovals on the entire DIRTcar Racing NorthEast circuit. The popular half‑miler has been in existence for a half-century, with 2007 marking the 31st season of stock car racing under the DIRTcar banner. First opening on Memorial Day in 1953, the "Fastlands of the Finger Lakes" gained instant notoriety with current DIRT Hall of Famers Dutch Hoag and Elmer Musclow turning it into a weekend home. Western New York standouts Billy Rafter, Kenny Meahl and Ed Ortiz as well as eastern invaders Pete Corey, Billy Wimble and Lou Lazzaro soon followed in victory lane, further showcasing some of the best sportsman talent in the Northeast. Future national modified champion Jerry Cook captured the 1964 Canandaigua Speedlands' points crown before the track temporarily closed. New management surfaced in 1972 and a second promoter in three years gave way to still more uncertainty. DIRT founder Glenn Donnelly took control of the Ontario County Fairgrounds' speedplant in 1977 and offered instant stablility. He remained there until the end of 2004 when the organization was acquired by a new group of investors, today officially recognized as DIRTcar Racing. Names like Will Cagle, Merv Treichler, Mike McLaughlin, Alan and Danny Johnson, Bob McCreadie, Steve Paine, Canadian Joe Plazek and Billy Decker soon made the headlines, once and for all establishing the facility as the "Land of Legends" for generations to come. Currently some of the nation's top short‑track stars can be found in Canandaigua every Saturday night throughout the summer months. The premier DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds are joined weekly by open‑wheel Sportsman Modified and full‑fender Street Stock divisions.
Celebrating its 'Golden Anniversary' of automobile racing in 2003, Lebanon Valley Speedway has complemented the growth and development of the DIRTcar Racing NorthEast under the promotion of current owner Howard Commander. The half-mile track that was originally laid out in 1953 was owned and operated by the Massachusetts trio of Edward Radke, Robert Scott and Harold Beitzel. The grand opening-day show was cancelled due to a Sunday rainstorm and the following week's scheduled 50-lapper was reduced to 26 circuits when competing drivers declared the track turns too dangerous. Hully Bunn from Cropseyville. N.Y. won the inaugural 13 mile main event on June 28, 1953 in front of an estimated crowd of 2,500. Lou Spanier gained ownership in 1954 and at the end of the '55 season Lebanon Valley gained its signature high banking ---a timely project as no record of racing in 1956 can be found--- that has become a track trademark ever since. Racing resumed in 1957 under the promotion of Spanier and the Lebanon Valley Auto Racing Association. Race day moved from Sunday afternoons to Friday evenings and midway through that same season the switch was made to Saturday nights where it has remained for almost 50 years. Before the 1950s came to a close, future DIRT MotorSports Hall of Famer Howie Westerveldt established a single-season record that stands intact today. In 1959 the Ravena, N.Y. racing pioneer won 17 features, was runner-up three times and placed third once in 21 events! The Valley staged its first 200-lapper in the mid-1960s ---won by Frankie Schneider on Oct. 3, 1965--- and with the exception of 1976-79 the double century grind has been a season-ending highlight every autumn. The reigns of promoter were eventually passed from 'Uncle Lou' Spanier to Commander in 1970 and he remains at the helm as the new millennium presses on. Lebanon Valley joined the DIRT-fold in 1980 and has boasted some of the top drivers on the entire circuit including Syracuse Rite Aid 200 champion Kenny Tremont (1999), the Valley’s all-time feature winner who also ranks among the top-10 on DIRT NE's career Big-Block Modified winner's list since the organization was formed in 1976.

NEWS & NOTES
New Mr. DIRTcar Championship Format Underway: The overall Hoosier Tire-Sunoco Race Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Modified Champion in 2007 will be determined by adding actual points earned in the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series to those bonuses collected in DIRT Regional Racing Series for Big-Blocks. Along with earning valuable SDS points throughout the season, each driver must now attempt to qualify for a minimum of twelve (12) weekly DIRT-sanctioned events in the same class. Drivers will receive 1200 bonus points towards the overall Mr. DIRT Championship if they attempt to qualify for 12 regional races. That total will decrease by 100 points for each appearance less than 12 (i.e. if a driver attempts to qualify for only 10 DIRT Regional Racing Series events that driver receives 1000 bonus points, five starts = 500 points, etc.).
Commitment To Excellence: For the third straight year tour officials have once again signed up the best Big-Block Modified teams in the Northeast to compete in every Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series show. The star-studded group of drivers accepting contract extensions ---those finishing among the top-12 in the final overall 2007 Hoosier Tire-Sunoco Race Fuels Mr. DIRT Championship point standings--- are reigning Mr. DIRT points king and winningest Big-Block Modified driver Alan Johnson, current Advance Auto Parts SDS points leader Matt Sheppard, ‘05 Mr. DIRT champion Tim Fuller, all-time Advance Auto Parts Series race winner Brett Hearn, ‘04 Mr. DIRT titlist Gary Tomkins, third-year tour follower Jimmy Phelps, DIRT NorthEast’s winningest ’07 driver Danny Johnson, Canandaigua Speedway record-setter Steve Paine, full-time tour follower Dale Planck, Keystone State open-wheel veteran Frank Cozze and recent additions Billy Decker and Justin Haers. Each of the contracted drivers owns provisional starting positions in the 2007 Advance Auto Parts SDS and are guaranteed to take home no less than $500 in winnings every time out.
Shock Value To Series Fast Qualifiers In ‘07: For a second straight year Integra Shocks is playing an active role in point fund sponsorship of the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series during the upcoming race season. The fast driver during 2007 Advance Auto Parts Series qualifying will once again earn the 'Integra Shocks Fast Time Award' and the driver winning the most Integra Shocks Fast Time awards during the season will collect a bonus set of four Integra Shocks ($1,000 value) at the DIRTcar Racing NorthEast Banquet in November. The Advance Auto Parts Series has recognized fast time trialers since 1983, with 1999 marking the first season the awards program included every tour event scheduled during the year. All-time Advance Auto Parts SDS race winner Brett Hearn is also a leader when it comes to speed, earning a series-best total of 34 Integra Shocks Fast Time awards during the past 20 years.
Drivers will continue to draw for their order in the 'Integra Shocks Time Trials’ at all Advance Auto Parts shows, however, this season the fast timer will select a second pill to determine how many cars (3, 4, 5 or 6) will be inverted to start each preliminary heat race. The 'Integra Shocks Fast Time Award' winner will collect $100 and five (5) bonus points and the top-three heat race finishers will earn additional bonus points as follows: 1st-5 pts, 2nd-3 pts, 3rd-1 pt. With the new inversion format in place, a driver can now earn a maximum of 10 more points being the fast timer as well as a heat race winner.
Early Season Winners: Coming out of the first weekend in August, 23 tracks have hosted DIRTcar-sanctioned Big-Block Modified races with 64 drivers scoring victories in the 142 features run. Each with nine wins, ‘07 Advance Auto Parts Series points leader and tour traveler Jimmy Phelps top the list of 28 drivers posting more than one victory, with Danny Johnson capturing eight checkered flags. Pennsylvania pilot Jeremiah Shingledecker comes next with seven followed by New Egypt leader Matt Sheppard with six. Canandaigua record-setter Steve Paine and veteran Brian Swartzlander have both taken five checkered flags while Series mainstays Alan Johnson, Frank Cozze, Billy Decker and Justin Haers along with Vic Coffey, Kevin Bolland and Rex King have four wins apiece. Garden State star Ryan Godown has three, with a dozen ---including Series regulars Tim Fuller and Dale Planck--- more drivers also able to repeat. Tour driver Gary Tomkins owns one win in ‘07.
Super Series Stats: Since the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series debut in 1980, 65 drivers have reached victory lane in 573 races with Virginia Motor Speedway becoming in May the 44th track to stage a championship event. Along with Brett Hearn's DIRT-best 498 (334 big-block/164 small-block) Modified wins registered at more than 30 tracks throughout the Northeast, the 'Jet' has flown to the top on the all-time Advance Auto Parts (94) Super DIRTcar Series win chart, with a division-best 62 extra-distance triumphs also scored in Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified Series competition.

Series Winners Automatic Syracuse SDW Starters: Guaranteed starting berths in the Rite Aid 200 are once again up for grabs and in 2007 more drivers than ever before will be able to earn preferred starter status throughout the season for the richest DIRT Big-Block Modified event in the world. Winners of the 25 scheduled Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series races and those among the top-12 in overall Hoosier Tire-Sunoco Race Fuels Mr. DIRT Modified Championship points heading into Super DIRT Week comprise the core group of drivers receiving guaranteed starting positions in the Rite Aid 200. Preferred starters are the next eligible drivers finishing behind an Advance Auto Parts SDS race winner that is already locked into the Rite Aid 200 starting grid, as well as all three DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Regional point champions and every licensed Big-Block Modified track champion crowned this year.
In order to take advantage of their guaranteed starting positions in the Rite Aid 200, Advance Auto Parts SDS race winners and top-12 Mr. DIRT point-getters must run time trials. Any guaranteed driver that fails to qualify through time trials or a Triple 20 will be added to the Rite Aid field in order of heat race results. Those drivers holding preferred status are afforded up front starting positions in the Dig Safely New York last-chance qualifier on Sunday, Oct. 7 if unable to qualify while running under the clocks or in heat race competition.
The balance of the Rite Aid 200 line-up is filled in from the Dig Safely New York Shootout with the 45th starting spot going to the best overall finisher in Cayuga County Fair Speedway’s ‘Win & You’re In’ Twin 25s on Sat., Oct. 6. Carrying on with a long-standing tradition, the Petrocci Memorial feature winner at Rolling Wheels Raceway on Sept. 3 automatically secures seventh-place on the 44-car starting grid and for the first time in Super DIRT Week history, the winner of the Coors National 200 at Lebanon Valley Speedway (Sept. 8) will start outside the fourth row.
Triple Crown Christened: The customary pre-race re-draw among top heat race qualifiers will continue to be in effect throughout the summer, with ‘Triple Crown’ events at Lebanon Valley Speedway, New York State Fairgrounds and Orange County Fair Speedway the only Advance Auto Parts Series stops awarding fast timers with pole-position starts. Heat points will not be awarded at these shows.
Continuing to rank among the most prestigious races in the country, the Rite Aid 200 at the N.Y.S. Fairgrounds in Syracuse on Oct. 7, Eastern States 200 at Orange County on Oct. 21, and Coors National 200 at Lebanon Valley on Sept. 8 are the only 200-lap races on the annual tour and in 2007 these three signature events on the Advance Auto Parts SDS formulate the first ‘Triple Crown’ in DIRTcar Racing for Big-Block Modifieds. In addition, the Rite Aid 200 winner automatically earns seventh-place on the Eastern States 200 starting grid and the winner of the Coors National 200 will start outside the fourth row in the Middletown finale.
This unique ‘Triple Crown’ features the $50,000-to-win Rite Aid 200 in the Salt City, $20,000-to-win Eastern States 200 in Middletown (NY) and $10,000-to-win Coors National 200 at the West Lebanon (NY) oval. These are the only Advance Auto Parts Series stops where the fast timers start on the pole and the top-six are locked into front three row starting positions while heats will be aligned in heads-up fashion. A special points system has been implemented for these three races with each winner receiving 150 Series points and 50 points awarded to start.
Get Out The Word First: RACEceiver is the Official Driver Communicator of DIRTcar Racing. A compact radio receiver that conveniently fits into a driver’s pocket, a RACEceiver allows each driver to hear directions from series officials, which greatly enhances the safety and timeliness of events. A similar version available to fans will allow RACEceiver users to hear what information series officials are relaying to the drivers. For more information about RACEceiver, visit www.raceceiver.com, call 866/301-7223, or look for their sales trailers at various events.
Tracks Know The Score: In the ongoing effort to assist every sanctioned track with presenting the best possible race programs, DIRTcar Racing has teamed with AMB i.t. which continues to be recognized as the Official Timing System of DIRTcar racing. AMB i.t. is the world’s leader in automatic race timing and scoring systems and the DIRTcar organization is proud to retain the company as a valued partner in the timing and scoring of all DIRTcar Racing events.
Rite Aid Store Specials: Rite Aid Pharmacies in New York and Pennsylvania will give away more than 800 free tickets for Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series/Rite Aid 200 Qualifier Races held throughout the 2007 season. The popular Rite Aid program is part of the promotion for the Oct. 7 Rite Aid 200 Championship race at Super DIRT Week in Syracuse, N.Y. Each Rite Aid Pharmacy promotion will feature DIRTcar driver appearances, race cars, the Rite Aid “cut-away” Modified, free autograph cards and free tickets to Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series/Rite Aid 200 Qualifier Races. Brett Hearn led off the Rite Aid activity in July with special appearances at three stores as the first 90 fans arriving at each received a free ticket to the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series/Rite Aid 200 Qualifier races held at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park, Ransomville Speedway and Grandview Speedway scheduled for later those same days.
