Three Points Nights Remain as FANtastic Five Set to Race on Saturday at Sharon Speedway for 13th Time in 2007
Admission $11 for adults, $5 for kids, under 11 are free
HARTFORD, Ohio; August 8, 2007 - With only three nights of points racing remaining at Sharon Speedway this season, the FANtastic Five division drivers will be battling for the 13th time in 2007 on the 3/8-mile oval on Saturday night.
On the oval, the point leaders will be looking to begin their final push towards a track championship when the cars hit the track on Saturday. Bob Felmlee extended his points lead in the Warren Harley-Davidson Sprint Car standings by scoring his seventh feature win on Saturday, but is scheduled to be at the Knoxville Nationals this weekend, which will allow the rest of the drivers to shave down his lead.
Del Rougeux did the same in the Gibson-Governor Insurance Modifieds, as he cruised into victory circle for the fifth time this year in the 25-lap big block feature. Howard Fraley helped his own cause with his first victory of the season, which extended his lead in the Coy Bros. Trucking E-Mod standings.
Steve D'Apolito is still the man sitting atop the Tom's Sewer and Drain Service Pure Stock points. Stan Woomer scored his first victory of the season in the most recent stock feature. In the Limited Sprints, Guy Griffin holds a sizeable lead in the points, with Jason Scoville notching a victory in the last race.
Also on the track Saturday, the drivers will be trying to earn bragging rights with their feet instead of a racecar in the driver relay race. Find out which driver is the fastest without horsepower when they take part in a relay race on the dirt oval.
Tickets for Saturday evening's show will be available at a price of $11 for adults (16 and older), $5 for kids (12-15) and free for children 11 and younger. Pit passes are $22, and the pit gate opens at 3 p.m.
Saturday will also be a "Two for $2" night. Fans who bring two non-perishable food items for Second Harvest Food Bank this Saturday will receive $2 off the price of an adult general admission ticket. A representative will collect the food outside the gate from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. only. Everyone who donates two food items will receive a $2 coupon to present at the ticket window, bringing the price of an adult general admission ticket to just $9. All non-perishable food items are accepted, but canned meats, canned vegetables, tuna and peanut butter are needed most.
As a result of the cancellation on Saturday, July 21, fans are encouraged to bring their tickets and pit passes from July 21 to ANY NIGHT of racing for the remainder of the 2007 season in exchange for admission into the track.
Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Fans can call (330) 772-5481 or visit www.sharonspeedway.com for more information and directions.
The "NASCAR Duel on the Sharon Speedway Dirt" featuring a $5,000 to win open sprint car feature and a $1,000 to win e-mod feature is slated for Tuesday, Aug. 14. The e-mod race will include NASCAR stars Dave Blaney, Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer and potentially more NASCAR drivers to be confirmed at a later date. General admission tickets for both events are $25 for adults and $5 for kids. Tickets are going fast. For more details, log on to www.sharonspeedway.com.
