FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FRANKLIN, PA .. The World of Outlaws Late Model Series returns to Tri-City Speedway for the two-day Oil Region Labor Day Classic Weekend on Saturday and Sunday September 1st and 2nd. Each night features a complete show of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series culminating with a 50-lap main event paying $10,000-to-win along with the RPM Auto Sales/Shawgo Real Estate E Mods and E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks.
The advertised purse exceeds $120,000 for both days combined, and the World of Outlaws Late Model Series features the top Late Model drivers in the nation, including contracted stars Shannon Babb, Brian Birkhofer, John Blankenship, Eddie Carrier Jr., Shane Clanton, Rick Eckert, Steve Franics, Chub Frank, Tim Fuller, Eric Jacobsen, Darrell Lanigan, Chris Madden, Jimmy Mars, Josh Richards, Brian Shirley and Clint Smith. Eckert won the Oil Region Labor Day Classic in 2005. Frank and Clanton shared each won in the two-day event held in 2006.
Joining the contracted drivers of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series should be a number of local hotshoes such as Dick Barton, Lynn Geisler, David Scott, Brent Rhebergen, Darrell Bossard, Dutch Davies, Jared Miley, Alex Ferree, John Flinner, Wally Fox, Greg Satterlee, Dave Hess Jr., Todd Andrews and Chad Ruhlman.
"The race teams and fans have enjoyed this event the last two years," said Tri-City Co-Promoter Mike Graham. "These are the only Late Model races of the season at Tri-City. Despite last year's rain, we had excellent shows in 2006 that featured nearly 50 Late Models. We hope that everyone comes out to support the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Oil Region Labor Day Classic."
The Late Models will invade Tri-City in full force on Saturday and Sunday night. Time trials and qualifying events will set the 24-car field for the 50-lap feature event each night. The winner of the each race will earn $10,000 with $700-to-start.
The E Mods will compete on both nights in the final events of 2007 for the Allegheny Toyota E Series. Jason Johns and Shawn Shingledecker won the first E Series races of the season. Shingledecker currently leads Johns, Mike Potosky, division point leader Carl McKinney, and Jim Frontz in the E Series point standings. In 2006, Potosky parlayed a two-night sweep of the Oil Region Labor Day Classic into his second career E Series title. In fact, Potosky ended the weekend nearly $3,000 richer.
Each night, the E Mods will run a complete series of qualifying events followed by a feature race. Saturday's event will be a 20-lap affair paying $725-to-win and $100-to-start. Sunday's race will be the All Star 30 paying $750-to-win with additional bonuses and lap money that could net the race winner over $2,000. The race purse $150-to-start the All Star 30.
Joining the E Mods, the Pro Stocks will run on both nights in races that count toward the title in the William R. Karns Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning Detroit Iron Pro Stock Series. Defending track champion Bobby Whitling and current point leader Doug Iorio II won the Detroit Iron Pro Stock Series races earlier this season. Iorio leads Whitling in the series points heading into Labor Day Weekend. Defending series champion Gerry Bruce, Matt Thomas and Dave Ferringer round out the top five pointmen.
The Pro Stocks will also run a complete series of qualifying events followed by a 20-lap feature race on each night paying $500-to-win and $75-to-start. Both events will provide excellent track time for drivers and teams to prepare for the 11th Annual CSOnline Applefest 100, which is scheduled for Sunday, September 16th.
On Saturday night after the races, Engles Trucking and Ray's Racing Specialties have returned as sponsors of "South Ghetto," which features a huge bonfire and the live band "Intent." For the last two years, that band has entertained the crowd. There is no admission to the party or band. In addition, there will be free camping at the speedway all weekend for those attending the races only.
Last season, the races ran late given the number of events and weather conditions. As a result, track officials have altered admission and start times. The gates open each night at 2:00 p.m. No fans will be allowed to reserve seats with blankets until Saturday at that time. Racing starts each night with hot laps for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series at 4 p.m. following immediately by time trials. Once time trials are completed, the track crew intends to work on the track before hot laps are held for the E Mods and Pro Stocks. The first heat races are scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
Adult grandstand admission will be $30 each night or a two-day ticket costs $50. Pit admission will be $35 each night or a two-day ticket costs $60. There is no entry fee for any division.
