Barry White Takes Home an 8th Place Finish at Five Mile Point

Barry White and Barry White Racing took to their Saturday night haunt at the Five Mile Point Speedway not knowing quite what to expect. In recent weeks the track has been a different kind of animal each week in which to contend with. After Saturday night no solution was found to the existing problem at hand. White shod his new race car with new rear sneakers after securing a heat race win earlier in the evening. A tweak here and there to the chassis and White felt fairly confident he had a car that would run up front all night.

At the drop of the green, White tried to maintain his line and was going nowhere. Attempting to dart to a quicker lane, White was tapped and lost a couple of valuable positions on the speedway. After settling back down, White went hands up on the wheel and maintained the position he was in for the remainder of the race, crossing the finish line in 8th place when the checkered flag fell. With the starting field as strong as it is at Five Mile Point, most people would be okay with the 8th place finish. White was disappointed, as he was hoping for a top five finish. After checking his tires after the races, he found both rear tires to be totally worn out after the 30 lap feature grind.

After the races, White remarked, "We felt really good tonight. The heat race win was uplifting and felt investing in the new rubber just might be the way to secure a top finishing position. We used to get two features out of a new set of tires, but not anymore. All of the drivers are faced with the same race track and the same issues. Some, however, do have a bit deeper pockets than we do."

The new car out of the Barry White racing stables is a 2006 Teo Design Bow-Flex Chassis, carries the Barry White signature number 131, and carries the support of longtime sponsor Deka Batteries. A Curt Neiman 358 cubic inch 9 to 1 powerplant supplies the power to the race car and Alcohol is the fuel of choice for the Berks County based race team.

Barry White Racing has always been one of the more popular race teams on the Eastern racing circuit. Friendly, courteous, helpful, and Mom's good cooking to help feed the team and friends, truly highlight their love for racing, as they make the three hour one way trek each week to race at the Five Mile Point Speedway. With their friendly spirit, it is easy to understand the popularity of the "Mighty Man from Mertztown" Barry White.
