KNOXVILLE, IA. – Danny Lasoski currently sits atop of the all-time win list at the Knoxville Raceway.

On Friday night, the driver out of Dover, Miss., added to that total as he claimed the win in round two of the 47th Annual Super Clean Knoxville nationals presented by Factory Value Parts.

Lasoski, who started on the pole, led the entire 25-lap event to score the $12,000 payday as well as his 89th career win at the ˝ mile oval.

“I’ve always said I want to get 100 wins here before I retire,” stated Lasoski. “Our car handled really well tonight and I had the perfect starting position.”

Lasoski and company used an experimental Kistler Engine in time trials and the heat race but opted to change motors before the feature event.

Lasoski started on the pole for the event and quickly jumped out in front. Several times he was forced to contend with lapped traffic as they battled with one another to secure valuable points. There were a few close calls but ultimately no one was able to mount a challenge giving him the victory in the caution free event.

Donnie Schatz came from the outside of row number four to take the runner-up position. Jason Solwold of Mt. Vernon, Wash., came home in the third position.

Chad Kemenah, of Findlay, OH., finished in fourth after starting on the outside of the front row with Jason Sides of Bartlett, Tenn. finishing in fifth.

*****
FRONT ROW CHALLENGE: Lasoski started on the front row with his JEI Chassis no.83. As the race went green he drag raced Kemenah down the front straightaway and slid up in front of him in turn two to take the advantage.

CHECKING OUT: By lap 6, Lasoski caught the tail end of the field and began searching for the right line to get through traffic. He patiently worked all grooves on the speedway as he tried to separate himself from the rest of the competition.

“I wanted to get out there as far as possible,” said Lasoski. “I knew that 15 (Schatz) would be coming up through and I wanted to get cars between us.”

BRAIL METHOD: With just 10 the laps remaining, Lasoski found himself in heavier traffic as he started to put cars a lap down there were inside the top fifteen. Several times he was forced to take evasive action to avoid making contact with these slower cars.

“I used the brail method out there,” laughed Lasoski. “I kind of felt my way through. I closed in on a few of those guys real quick and had to take evasive action but no harm no foul.”

NO CAUTIONS: Without any cautions to slow the event, Lasoski easily picked up the victory by almost a ˝ straightaway at the checkers. Schatz, of Fargo, ND., had the most impressive run of the night as he came up through the field to finish in the runner-up spot.

“By the time I got to second Danny (Lasoski) was way out in front,” said Schatz. “He’s always tough here I just wish I got a chance to race with him.”

NEEDED SOME ADJUSTMENT: Even though Schatz wound up with an impressive finish it wasn’t without issue as the 30-year-old battled a tight racecar for much of the event.

“I don’t know what happened but we were really tight,” said Schatz. “We made up a lot of ground but to be honest I wasn’t really sure how far we were going to get with the car like it was.”

A GOOD BATTLE: Solwold finished third after running in the runner-up position for most of the distance. He and Schatz had a fierce battle as the pair swapped lanes multiple times before he was relegated to third.

“We needed to be a little bit better to run with those guys (Lasoksi and Schatz),” said Solwold. “Schatz and I battled for a few laps but I started to get lose toward the end and he got by me.”

QUALIFYING: Tim Schaffer set quick time with a lap of 15.000. Winners of the five heat race events included Chad Blonde, Jonathan Allard, Bob Weuve, Lasoski and Schatz. The C-Main winner was Dean Jacobs with Schaffer picking up the victory in the B-Main.
