CARBER AND CANNON WIN AT WILLIAMS GROVE

August 10, 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MECHANICSBURG – Michael Carber of Pipersville outlasted veteran Todd Shaffer of Millerstown to record his first career 410-sprint car win at Williams Grove Speedway Friday night. The victory was worth $3,000 for Carber.

Driving the No. 22Z, Carber started on the pole alongside Blane Heimbach and wired the field for the victory but it did not come easily for the young gun who has also recorded wins on the URC circuit this season.

Shaffer, who started 11th after winning his first of the season at the track last week, motored into second on lap-14 of the 25-lap main and dogged Carber for the rest of the distance, in fact mounting two challenges for the win.

With five laps to go Shaffer blasted his mount to the lowside in turns three and four while Carber went high as the pair split a lapped car with Carber coming out just ahead. After that, Shaffer settled in for one last charge which he launched just after the white flag as the pair entered turn one.

Shaffer missed his lowside entry however and hit an infield tire marker, sending him up across the track and Carber on to victory.

Carber withstood three caution flags and a red on the fourth lap to secure his triumph.

With his second place finish, Shaffer now unofficially sits second in the season point standings, just 65 points behind leader Jeff Shepard.

Chad Layton rode home third followed by Brian Montieth, Heimbach, Ryan Bohlke, Mike Erdley, Doug Esh, Jim Siegel and Don Kreitz Jr.

Heat races for the 26-car field went to Carber, Alan Krimes and Heimbach with Josh Wells taking the consolation.

In the 25-lap, 358-sprint championship event, Pat Cannon of Etters started 12th as the point leader and charged up to sixth in just the first two circuits.

Cannon motored into second on lap eight before taking the lead from John Barnett a lap later. Once in front, Cannon was untouchable enroute to his fourth victory of the season at the track.

Jake Raudabuagh led the first two circuits before giving way to Barnett.

Adrian Shaffer took over second with ten laps to go and finished there followed by Cory Haas, Frankie Herr, Barnett, Billy Johns, Raudabaugh, John Westbrook, Adam Wilt and Chad Criswell.

Heats for the 35-car field went to Chad Jumper, Jay Galloway, Barnett and Raudabaugh with Criswell and Westbrook copping consolations.
