ARMSTRONG CLAIMS THRILLING LATE MODEL MAIN, STEVE FANNASY TAKES SPORTSMAN

August 11, 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MECHANICSBURG – Steve Fannasy and Tyler Hershey headlined Saturday night’s program at Williams Grove Speedway with victories in the super sportsman and limited late model mains respectively.

The current points leader, Hershey stole the show in a fantastic 20-lap late model main that saw him start 12th before working his way to the front behind leader John Ebersole.

Hershey became part of a wild four-car race for the win after the halfway point as Ebersole held sway over 11th starter Gene Knaub, Jake Lettich and himself.

As Knaub and Lettich dueled for second while staying glued to Ebersole’s rear bumper for the lead, Hershey lurked in their shadow and when the pair glanced off of each other on the frontstretch with three laps to go, Hershey pulled the trigger for the victory.

Once in front, Hershey drove away to the win over Knaub, Ebersole, Tyler Armstrong and Travis Mease.

Late model heats went to Mike Walls, Armstrong and Ebersole.

Second generation driver Steve Fannasy started second in the 20-lap sportsman feature and wired the field for his first victory of the season in convincing style.

Fannasy withstood three restarts including one after a red-flag on the third circuit for polesitter Kevin Yiengst who was holding down second when he drove straight into the first turn outside fence before vaulting over the wall.

Following Fannasy across the line was Glenn Keller, Jason Fry, Frankie Herr and Duaine Smith.

Heats for the sportsman went to Fannasy, Mike Enders, Fry and Steve Wilbur while Rich Eichelberger and Leory Martin copped consolation races.

Kory Sites took the lead from Dave Motter on lap eight to win another street stock feature. Motter rode home second followed by Rodney Clouser, Gary Johnston and Randy Patterson.

John Stoll Jr. posted a flag to flag victory in the four-cylinder feature event. It was the 96th career triumph of Stoll’s overall career.
