With heavy rain falling throughout the evening hours and the immediate weather picture calling for more of the same, Promoter Gary Palmer decided to pull the plug on the scheduled Bob Gaydo's Auto Body Night of racing at the Ulster County facility tonight. For Palmer, this makes it three consecutive weeks Mother Nature has decided to pay an untimely visit to his speedway.
Working far in advance, Palmer decided to get the word out as early as possible so all of the race teams and fans would be alerted to not make the trip to the speedway. With the unsettling economy in our country, Palmer felt it best to cancel the show early on.
Accord Speedway will spring back into action this coming Wednesday night, August 15th, with "Midweek Madness" once again taking to the 1/4 mile raceway. Karts, Quads, Bikes and Lawn Mowers will highlight the card that saw 128 competitors entering the gates last week for the exciting racing action. More and more Bikes continue to arrive at the speedway for the Wednesday night racing, and all divisions have been putting on quite a show throughout the Wednesday night racing season.
Friday night, August 17th, it will be Kingston Nissan Night at the speedway with racing in all divisions. Kingston Nissan, will not only sponsor the night of racing at the speedway, but the auto group has been on board all year with their support of the Mini Sprint Division at the Speedway and is participating with the use of a Nissan Pickup Pace Truck for the 2007 racing season at Accord.
The Pit Gates open at 4:30; the spectator gates open at 5 PM. Hot Laps are at 6:30 and the racing begins at 7 PM. The Regular show admission is $12.00 for Adults and for Seniors it is $10.00. Juniors (ages 10 to 15) are $8.00. and Kids (9 and under) are $1.00.
