Spatorico Takes 50 Lap Lucas Oil Win, Chevalier Notches Title.
Ransomville, NY-Friday, August 10, 2007-
Don Spatorico of Ransomville, NY took the win aboard the 50 lap Grelak
Mechanical Lucas Oil Sportsman Nationals Shoot-out last Friday night.
Spatorico took the lead away from Mike Short on lap five and maintained
it the remaining distance aboard his Able Auto Wrecking sponsored
machine. The former Modified driver collected his fifth win in a row-
sixth of the season in the Sportsman division.
Short led the early going followed by Spatorico, John Smith, Scott
Just, and Ricky Newton. Several cautions plagued the event including a
lap thirty-eight red as the cars of Ed Cain, Steve Schumacher, and
Tommy Flannigan blocked the track in turn two. The drivers were a-okay
but their racers done for the night. Once in front Spatorico was able
to maintain the top spot as Just and Chevalier battled lap after lap
for the runner up position. At the line it was Spatorico followed by
Chevalier, Just, Tyler MacPherson, and Greg Panunte.
