FULTON, NY – This Saturday August 18 at Fulton Speedway will be www.cnyjunkcarswanted.com Night featuring the DIRTcar Sportsman, Gypsum Express Crate Sportsman, ESDCA Mod Lites, UMP Pro Stocks, UMP Street Stocks, and 4-Cylinder Enduros. Race time at the historic Oswego County Route 57 track is set for 7pm.
Fulton driver Jeremy Pitcher appears to be headed for his first ever DIRTcar Sportsman season crown at the speedway. Pitcher, the fan favorite, currently leads John Pietrowicz by 38 points and defending champion Shawn Donath by 44 markers. Both Pietrowicz and Donath still have a shot at the title as there are only four point events left. Sammy Reakes IV and Dave Reilley are the remainder of the top five. Timmy Sears Jr. is the current Gypsum Express Crate Sportsman point leader, and the second generation driver is looking to make his own mark in the history books.
In the UMP Pro Stock division, things are getting real interesting and somewhat controversial. Billy Clark Jr., the defending track champion of Fulton, took over the points lead with a feature win last Saturday after then leader Jason Parkhurst was penalized for rough driving. Both drivers are just 4 points apart in the standings, with Jack Terrell, Dale Guernsey, and Jim Evans right behind, but likely out of the title hunt.
Ron Hawker of Jordan is likely the candidate for the UMP Street Stock championship, and it would be his first season championship. Hawker has been tough to beat with four feature wins to date. Gary Barton, Dan Hofmann Sr., Jim Wallace, and Nick Rizzo all are within reach of the top spot with three point races remaining. Mark Johnston is the current 4-Cylinder Enduro point leader with other top driver Jon Shumway 26 markers behind. Jerry Herbert, Marjorie Wallace, and Les Baker complete the top five in the action packed class.
The ESDCA Mod Lites will return to the high banks at Fulton Speedway this Saturday. Dan Williams and brother Doug Williams continue to be the drivers to beat. Jeff Barker, Ken Gamlen, and Rocco Leone are the remainder of the top five and are all looking for their first victory of the 2007 race season.
